Description My take on the Taronyu, a species of extraterrestrial from the SCP Foundation's Ad Astra Per Aspera canon.

This one was a toughie. I wanted to do the species justice, but I didn't want it to be a rubber forehead alien. Trying to make an evolutionarily sound extraterrestrial humanoid is notoriously difficult because designing a humanoid without using a human as a basis can be very hard. A humanoid species from another planet would evolve from different phylogenetic origins and principles, and it's most likely that none of them would look human even with a roughly human-powered shape. Chances are that all of them will have muscle groups and skeletal structures very dissimilar to ours. With that in mind, I took a LOT of liberties in my take, redesigning various aspects of the Taronyu physiology to make them more explicitly alien. I wanted their resemblance to humans to be purely vague and a grand cosmic coincidence. For example, I completely altered how their shoulders work. Rather than their arms being placed at the top of the ribcage just below the neck, their arms are situated midway down the ribcage due to the way their shoulder girdle evolved. This alien shoulder anatomy also influenced how their upper body muscles evolved, with analogues to pectoral and shoulder muscles that do not resemble anything seen on earth. They evolved their sense of smell differently from Earth organisms as well. Rather than having a nose that connects directly to their respiratory system (their actual nostrils are just above their first pair of ribs), they possess a retractable scent organ in place of it. This organ is analogous to (as well as strongly resembling) the forked tongues of various squamates, and periodically flicks in and out as the Taronyu smells the air. Due to how Taronyu sexual dimorphism works, I decided to make them look rather androgynous. Their bodies lack secondary sex characteristics, and their rather yonic-looking gonophore helps add an extra sense of confusion and questionability as to how their reproduction works exactly. I could definitely believe that their appearances and body proportions would vary slightly depending on the sex, but none of the variations among the sexes would register anything male or female to us. Them having six sexes would confuse us, but us having only two sexes would probably confuse them just as much.

The Taronyu were created by NatVoltaic.

Man, after seeing your depictions of these scp lifeforms. I now wonder/want to see how you would design the entities from 354.

Thanks, though it's not a tongue; just the Taronyu equivalent of olfactory organs.

XD, it's the closest to a green-skinned space babe in the SCPverse, but without "busts" and with six sexes making them very hard to tell.

the "cliche, right?" green alien is gonna get weirded out if he meets these evolutionarily sound green humanoids, XD.

it's interesting that Taronyu culture had things like beliefs similar to the Scarlet King and Fifthism, this results in a terrifying fact... in that nothing in the universe is safe from the influence of the Scarlet King and the Fifthist God.

It really is. Wasnt as surprised by the Orthothan stuff though, because its already pretty well known that the Church of the Second Hytoth is widespread in space (as seen with the "Cones")

it is implied that even the Church of the Second Hytoth can fall into the Fifthist trap, as shown in SCP-4475 (in the same Ad Astra canon), the one about the ginormous godlike space cow, since the space cow-made human duplicate said something about a "Fifth Church of Hytooth".

anyway, the SCP that included the Taronyu has some nice critters on the dead world of Mo'ara, not sure if you might draw them someday, but anyways the exploratory mission team encountered a four-legged vaguely-reptilian monster with an skeletal head and a tall, vaguely humanoid thing with large branching horns.

plus there was once an "apex-tier pluripotent entity" that caused the final apocalypse upon it's destruction on Mo'ara, which resulted in supercontinent-sized storms, volcanic eruptions, sudden hurricanes and earthquakes that never end, i bet it was an hostile alien-sky-god thing.

Oh yeah, the Taronyu had their own strange equivalent of SCP-682. Or at least that's what the thing is implied to be, anyway.

considering that i can already imagine Mo'ara would have had a counterpart to SCP-939, something like a quadruped creature with four lips and triple-forked tongue-like heat sensors as i imagine it, the creature being colored... what color of blood do the Taronyu have?.

Taronyu breathe an atmosphere with contents similar to that of Earth, so they'd probably have hemoglobin in their blood. Though I'm not sure about a Taronyu SCP-939 counterpart. I feel like it's enough that those things live on Earth. And besides, Mo'ara isn't a parallel Earth, so we cannot expect them to have all the same anomalies as us. Plus, the Scarlet King is an omnipresent threat, so the Taronyu SCP-231 analog makes much more sense, as does the 682 analog (if you follow the Scarlet King or SCP-1124 backstories for SCP-682 that is).

understood, also fifthism is another omnipresent threat, i wonder if the Taronyu don't have sarkicism at least, since Yaldabaoth is another universal threat.

That's a good question. The cones had a Sarkicism-adjacent religion as well.
