The song is "Birdhouse in Your Soul" by They Might Be Giants. I wish it had not taken me 20 years to realize that band exists.
At first I was doing this just because I liked the idea of a friendly sentient nightlight, but as I worked on it some things happened to make me realize that God has blessed me with some blue canaries of my own. So this is for them.

This is a really cute and wonderful piece that reminds me that there's someone who's is willing to watch over you and be you friend, though thery're not. I imagine you'll curse me for getting that line stuck in your head, but it had to be done. This is priceless, and quite well executed. There's even a music video for tha song somewhere, though I don't believe it has a single bluebird nightlight in it (but I haven't seen it a while, so I could be wrong).

Probably, since at least one of them appears in it. It's in a DVD collection of theirs, along with music videos of other songs. I'd tell you the name of it, but I lost my copy - sorry. Though it think it uses the word "Manhatten" somewhere.
