Description I was recently thinking about making another keyblade, however that idea got put on hold in favor of this: The Skyrim Steel Sword. My neighbor will be turning seven soon and I thought I'd make him a sword for his birthday.

What you see is about 5 days of cutting and carving, the little designs in the hilt and pommel were particularly annoying .
As with everything I make, it is entirely made from MDF and carved with assorted chisels and gauges. The total length is exactly 42 inches.

If you want to see the WIP pics, please check out my Facebook page : www.facebook.com/pages/Sephiro…

As always feedback is greatly appreciated, I'd love to know what you guys think of it and I'll upload the painted version soon.
until then, see ya

Awesome work man
I recommend a basic dremel, I got mine from the home depot for about $25, it can easily shave off 4 days from your production time.

Thanks, and as for the Dremel, I've gone through two already. Both started making a really loud noise and vibrated violently. Then they wouldn't start. For now, I'll stick to my hand chisels. I'd love to get another Dremel tool but I don't want a repeat of last time because in this country, power tools are way more expensive.

Huh, i've never had any problem like that, and I use my dremel for stone, steel and wood crafts.. maybe I just got lucky, any way, to each their own, and great work

One's SKYFORGE STEEL!! And the other's just plain boring non-skyforge steel.. They look identical though..

Stat wise:
3 points damage and about 45 gold in price..

It's basically a cheaper and lighter elven sword..

I wish mine was made of all MDF. But my town sucks and only sells MDF boards that aren't very wide.

Looks great!

Still, yours looks epic! Is the worbla easy to paint on or does it require a lot of priming first?

Suoitnev In reply to Bayr-Arms [2015-03-13 03:51:14 +0000 UTC]

Yep, it's easy to paint. I stick to Rustoleum's flat primer that bonds to plastic, just to be sure (since worbla is technically a plastic afterall).
I put a couple layers of wood glue over the sword to seal and help smooth things out a bit, and it worked pretty well on the worbla, too. Plus this is my first time using MDF, and I heard that putting straight up primer on it soaks into the wood and doesn't come out great, so I used the wood glue first.

Same here, I always put a coat or two of glauter (wood glue mixed with water) on my MDF before priming. I guess I could paint Worbla the same way, thanks for telling me.

EXCELLENT! are you going to leather wrap the hilt or just paint it?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Bayr-Arms In reply to jmaur82 [2015-03-13 01:37:41 +0000 UTC]

I am going to wrap it in leather, however I only have pale white deerskin leather so it won't look completely accurate. I'm still going to use the leather instead of painting it because it will feel more authentic and I think that is more important even though than the color of the leather is a little different.
