Leon Castell was a part of the second generation of Italian Americans, his father and mother had fled to the United States into the city of New York in the 1910's. His father was apart of the Italian-American Mafia that had overruled New York, the Consigliere or advisor of a crime family boss/Don. Because of this his family was moderately wealth when they had arrived and settled in, they were held at high value by the Mafia families Don. His father had ambitions for Leon to become his heir to his rank, to continue the Castell line of Consigliere's.

When Leon became of age, he took the traditional oath and officially began his training with the Mafia Family to become the next Consigliere. He was groomed and conditioned from the gecko even before he took the oath by his father and was able to keep up with the Mafia when it came to certain traditions and political knowledge. He was twenty three when the boss decided to take his father and him to a small town, they were called in by a few of the bosses grunts to help them deal with a rivaling gang that had slowly infected the streets of California.

At that time Leon had to spend months undercover as a bartender/waiter for the Pines Hotel, tasked to watch for any members of the rival gang passing through. He grew a attachment to the job as time went on, as well as the hotel itself and the diversity of the building. However, like most things they could not stay happy forever, the rivaling gang had received word from a anonymous source about a spy that had taken undercover at the Pines Hotel. Leon had been stocking up the bar when he felt the pain of something crash upon his head, shattered glass falling to the carpet floor his vision faded quickly. The last thing he can remember is slight flashes of dark silhouettes and the searing heat that hungrily devoured his flesh.
