I love the hints of glowing colours in this dramatic design.

So I tried to calibrate but it was an awful mess so I did some searching and found there are a LOT of other new macbook owners with the same opinion of too dark and saturated and I found a forum where they were posting their color profiles using various calibration softwares and after applying about 10 I found one that was close to the old mac. Not exact but a good deal better than the default profile. I am running Lion and was tearing my hair out trying to find the ColorSync folder to download the new profiles to and after some more Google searching found out that Lion OS hides the Library folder! That was easily fixed by going into Terminal and unhiding it but really, what a pain in the ass!
All told, I am loving the machine...it is sooo much faster...It also helps that I'm running Windows 7 instead of XP on the VM.

sure does... try get your hands on an app like MacPilot - dead handy, lets you toggle the visibility of the Library Folder as well as set a custom Login screen background (mind you I use the free LoginOx for that anyway and they've just updated the software for Lion
Must be a Macbook specific issue - wonder if its the screens... Difficult to say what the story is here as I am using a HP and LG Monitor twin up - and set the profiles of each to Apple RGB... happy enough with the contrast ansd saturation,,, changing to srgb it gets a touch milky....
I'm not sure if System/Library/ is hidden by default... don't believe so,,, you could as easily use that and use color sync utility In Applications/Utility/ to tweak,,,, Just be sure though that if you get something you like you copy it off someplace manually.... you never know...
As for the VM - can only run VMWare with my processor - that said you can drag and drop and unify etc with no problem and if anythng it behaved better for me than Parallels on Snow Leopard. Not sure what Parallels 5 is like but cannot run it as my processor does not support the Virtualisation specs needed for Parallels 5 apparently... But as for choice of Windows OS... I run XP in the VM... I hate Windows 7 but even so have installed a token install on a separate drive in a dual boot setup... I only ever go there to play games, thats about it! UF runs fine in the VM on one or 2 cores... If I had a 16 core mac pro then I might consider Win 7 for the multi threading capability, but at that I think the max it can handle is 4...
I blew it big time when I bought the iMac as I didn't take out apple care... the damn graphics chip started playing up after 6 months and eventually died after 2 years... no way am I paying $500 for a replacememt: around $350 for the chip another $50 for shipping and $100 on top of that to fit it... Not worth it ofn a Core Duo... For now the Hack serves me really well.. full 64 bit support,Quartz graphics etc... and get to run the graphics card of my choice...

Looks like gears working under lamp lights. The texture is really great, going from rusty to marbled. Nice work!
