In the delightfully twisted mind of a fan named NinjaPastry, The Spine found himself, through an affair of the heart, doing a few odd jobs for the spectre of Death, the Reaper. Trouble is, no one works for the Reaper without a few side effects... and no one who works for the Reaper ever doesn't work for said Reaper... ever again... unless he's willing to see everyone he knows harvested to pay the debt.And I thought I'd draw a little fan art of the whole concept. Pair with the eerie Danny Elfman or Bruno Coulais song of your choice.
And yeah, his eyes are open.

This is actually a part of a cooperative fic we're writing in the fan fiction board of the Cavalcadium. NinjaPastry called it Metal Doesn't Rust. We take turns writing installments. But The Spine's reaper status is part of her original storyline, and has only become a factor in the later chapters... up until then, The Spine seems to have spent most of his time with his lady while everyone else awkwardly avoids going anywhere near the Hall of Wires!

Also (if I'm recognizing your little avatar-picture-thingy correctly), I've been reading your fic over on AO3, Β and I feel like I just need to thank you for writing things, because your work has given me so many different feels (happy and sad), and I'm just in awe of people that can write fanfic that well.

Thank you! Yes, I have some stories over on AO3... It's a lot easier to use that fanfiction.net. Glad you're enjoying them! The goal of lil fic on the Cavalcadium has been to wring as many feels out as possible, but I keep stuffing jokes into it. You can read them without an account, btw.

I guess the same can be said about any character with a long, somewhat vague backstory... and a somewhat vague current story. The fog surrounding SPG's world and its characters is so thick... it's hard not to make up your own version of things

You, too? Well, I've found that my skills have grow hugely from doing that... I am finally getting back to some original work, once I finish this frustrating drawing of Rabbit I'm working on. I decided hatchwork was the right way to fill it in. It's taking ages! But it does suit Rabbit...

I suppose that's only natural. You can only improve yourself from doing something to death, amirite? Β The last couple of Spine drawings I made were the most expressive I ever made so far... Oh the irony... I can work on something for weeks and only make an "ok" drawing, but then when I take an hour and make some random doodles, they're the best shit ever.
