Description Finally a new update from me.
This has been rolling around on my hard drive for at least 3-4 months, and has been somewhat of a labour of love, snatching moments in between exams to finish it.
Of course as with so many of my pieces it hasn't turned out quite how i imagined it, but then that's part of the suprise and i love it all the more for it.

I have an idea about her story, but i'll leave it up to you to come up with your own interpretation. I'd love to hear some!

I like the focus difference between the foreground and the background.

But my favorite part is your scrawl on the pipe. It works so well.

A great concept beautifully composed and the monochomatic colour scheme adds to the atmosphere. I see the end of a relationship and grief is represented by her position and also the the look on her face. The paper, which looks like it has been torn into pieces, falling from her fingers, represents the loss of her hopes and the dreams for a future that they planned together.

As he stumbles away, she thinks of how they met just a few hours ago at the Gallery.
Funny how it sometimes seems that at the last possible moment someone enters your life that your willing to jump the gun for.
She had always been so careful with how she entered a conversation and how she presented herself.
But he was just felt so right in that moment and such a welcome distraction from all the other boring people in the room.
She knew his name "Duncan" and that was it. They had talked for 1 hour but for the life of her she could not remember what they actually had talked about.
What she could remember was his strong hands his wonderful smile and sensual kisses. Between talking in front of her paintings and going behind the Gallery in the woods it all seemed like a blur.
Now lying here feeling his presence moving ever further away, she didnt feel like moving at all. She felt that after this everything else would be feel lessened...
Could she ever be herself again?

Love this pic!! awesome!!!

Wonderful manipulation! I really like the soft blues and greens. I love how you made her drop her torn up love letter. Maybe it's just me but half way up her shirt the color changes from dark to light (same goes for the arm but it's less noticeable). Did you do that on purpose? Again lovely piece.

I think this looks real sinister without it exactly being completely full to the brim with darkness which is a real achievement. The man in the background gives this threatening nature to it especially as you can't see his face. This is truly brilliant!

Thank you! I really set myself the challenge of creating an eerie, mysterious and slightly creepy piece without using the tradition colour pallete of blacks, blues with a bit of violet. It was a lot of fun but quite difficult to start with! I started off with the idea of an attack, like a vampire or something then drifted into the realms of lost loves and such. I guess the result is a combination of both, which is what i love so much about it.
Thank you so much for your comment!

I've read a folktale about the 'Ganconer' or 'Love-Talker' that mesmerizes young women then feeds on their soul, leaving them alive in body but with no spirit, they slowly waste away.... a sort of blood-free vampire i guess. Sorry, that sounds so morbid...but theres something about the way shes staring at the sky as if shes not quite there... and the figure leaving in the background reminded me of this story

Beautiful work there is so much light in this image and yet there is a dark atmosphere. I love it xxx

Behana In reply to GingerKellyStudio [2010-06-15 16:20:10 +0000 UTC]

Hehe, perhaps a bit morbid but my original idea for this piece was actually about a vampire. I was going to have blood and teeth and stuff, then it changed more to dreamy lost loves and i guess now it's somewhere in-between, both sinsiter and magical at the same time. I love this combination because it leads people to have completely opposing and equally valid interpretations.
Hehe, thank you so much! My challenge for this piece was to create an eerie, slightly creepy atmosphere without using the traditional dark blue hues.
