They must really trust you.... Wonderful captures, thanks for sharing.

thanks .... but I'm not so sure it's trust but they definitely know me .. lol! The front yard was full of deer but I went out the back door to get firewood. Next thing I know they are all standing around me in the backyard watching me chop wood and fill the wheelbarrow. Then they followed me back into the front yard and 17 deer watched me fill the wood box! I feel sorry for them right now! I ran out of food this morning and my other neighbour that feeds them are away in BC right now and with all the snow we've had the poor deer are really struggling! This is what it's like around here ..... this was two years ago but the same exact group of deer .... [link]

oh, wow! That video is great! You even petted Lilty. It was cute when one would put out a foot to chase another away from the food. No squabbling though.

Poor deer, you must have felt bad when they followed you around with nothing to give them. I would have raided the refrigerator, I think! Still, a short time without being fed isn't so bad. You've kept them alive and well fed so there is probably some natural forage still.

It's a wonderful thing to be part of, you'll remember forever....

well ........ they tend to behave more when I stand there but if I walk away the fighting over the food starts. Which is why I make so many piles after discovering that worked the best to stop the squabbling. But as the piles start to disappear the bullie's personalities begin to reveal themselves ... lol.

It has been a tough winter this year with a record snowfall and long extended cold weather. Not as cold as when I was a kid but still hard on them when the snow is so deep and they can't get to the grass. I think it is close enough to spring that if I stopped feeding them they would do fine. Hopefully it will warm up next week and get some grass on the hilltops starting to appear again.

Ya ... it's pretty cool but when it happens every day it doesn't seem so unusual. Makes it fun again when I hear reactions like yours though

Glad I could help.... I suppose anything could become ordinary, but really, it's a wonderful thing! I like that they remember you even in the summer...

I watched some baby catbirds in the nest one spring. They got used to me just standing there and the parents sort of did too. One time I came early while the parent was still there and she stayed until the little ones wiggled out from under her. [link]
I wasn't able to catch them leaving the nest but I arrived soon after. The young ones saw me and starting to come to me but the parents made a warning and they went deeper into the bushes. Those are memories I'll treasure forever.
