Description So, I drew the rough sketch of this, like, months ago. Got around to penciling in the detail in early November maybe. Then I scanned it, didn't like the lack of background filler, drew in some random lines and became all lazy-ass and didn't want to upload it. I'm doing it now so that I don't forget about it.

It's Linux-tan! Don't ask why her hair is different-looking from the other drawings of her... can't a woman change her 'do? Also, I was too lazy-ass to change the hairstyle when I realized how far off it was.

The little hair curls on the sides are my interpretation of GNU horns.

On the left we have Linux-tan in her warrior outfit (with the jacket opened up) with her trusty halberd... and cape, cause everybody knows how cool they are (at least if you're not working around jet-engines...)

On the right we have dressy Linux-tan. Let's say she's wearing her super-pretty Compiz window manager! It's what she wears when she's at a swanky soiree or wants to prove that she can be just as aesthetically pleasing as those Windows- or Mac-tans.

Or to make the other Unices green with envy. >:3

She's not wearing her high heels because 1) she seems like the sort who'd hate unstable footwear and 2) I was too lazy to draw them.

Compiz dress huh? So does that mean when I hit the hot key and twiddle the mouse that her dress becomes a semi transparent cube? (Okay, that sounded dirtier than I'd intended...

I could picture Ms Linux wearing some of them Five Finger shoes from Vibram...

Bwahaha! Er... something...like...that...

Well, they are very stable and lightweight and those are two properties Linux-tan quite likes... ^^

Mmmm...I can picture it now. A pair of the Five Finger shoes in colors to go with the dress and a charm anklet with linux logos as the charms (so it'd be the Gentoo Pacman, tux, the ubuntu circle, a little fedora, a BSD devil, etc.)

Maybe she'd try a pair of those heavy duty leather tabi boots. (I saw a pair in real life a while back, they're pretty hoss as soft soled moccasin boots go..)

Haha, now I want to do a drawing of Linux-tan wearing those. She'd wear the boots for her more extensive treks...

hubba hubba, that hair is just.... DAAAAAAAAAAAMN ^_________^
It's no small coincidence that they both have "gnu horn-shaped" bangs, no?

Battle Linux-sama's right hand and both feet are a little off, but everything else is positively stellar. Clothing goes without saying, you are the fashion queen. ^.^

I like her hair! As always, it's the in-jokes that really make this all stand out, but it's always subtle. I also like the hatching in this picture. It adds a kind of roundness and depth. Sometimes simple sketches are best.

Thanks! I always try to throw in a few injokes in my OS-tan drawings, even with the more obscure characters (of course, those references are a lot more abstract).

Hatching is a lot of fun to do, I rather like the effect too.

Hooray for Halbreds! Pole arms are truly the most under appreciated family of military weapons (in art).

Good job working in the GNU horns, one of my favorite parts of Linux-tan's design.

(Interesting: Actually, a sailor was sucked through a jet turbine on the USS Kitty Hawk {I think} and survived with just a couple of broken bones)

Linux-tan is usually depicted with a spear, C-quel came up with the halberd idea (makes her look a little tougher, you know?). A lot of her daughters also carry spears or polearms of some sort. ^^

Haha, I'm glad the GNU horn hair-curls worked out. Makes me sad I didn't include them in the vector drawing I'm doing of her now. D:

That's amazing.

Mhmm, the choice of British Army Sergeants for something like three centuries. Makes sense since Linux-tan is a leader....

Awww

I know right?

I didn't know that, thanks. ^^

Very styling outfits. She seems to tread the line on upstate nobility and lower east side swingin'. ¦Þ

When you say "GNU horns", you mean like some manner of wildebeest? ^~

Also, I completely forget which Superman movie (cartoon ep?) this was, but at one point he uses his own self to prop up a passenger jet that had lost one of its engines. Of course, depending on the canon, the cape of Supes is often considered nigh-indestructible. XD;

That's sounds about right, actually. ^.^

Yes, I do-- a reference to the GNU part of GNU/Linux [link]

Writers and filmmakers often ignore the danger of wearing capes while working around jets-- at least they told it like it is in The Incredibles!
