Description
Having done up Gorbash, decided to draw up Smrgol next. I love LOVE Smrgol. I had quite the bawl fest as a kid when he died after fighting the ogre...Anyway, Gorbash is here if you haven't seen him:

I like these cards.
But anyway...gonna attempt colors on him, then maybe later try and draw up my FAVORITE dragon from the movie, Bryagh. Though at this point I think Smrgol is probably way up there considering, and Gorbash when he's "possessed" by Peter.
If you don't know what the hell i'm talking about, it's in the movie, it's old, and not much is known about it in the newer generation. Shame, shame. I miss Rankin & Bass old movies.
Pilot color Eno pencil (light blue) and inked with Copic Multiliner SP on bristol smooth ATC card. Photoshop mangling to bring out the levels.

I guess I don't remember the movie, but the book The Dragon and the George had a dragon named this in it too...possessed? I wonder if that movie is based on that book then.

You are correct in that assumption about how Dragon and the George influenced the story. I'm not sure how deeply it melds with it, but it's like a combo of that and the book by Peter Dickenson called "The Flight of Dragons". I've wanted to read that book actually, but could never find it.

He was a good dragon though. I loved him. I think maybe it's because they are someone to look up to? I am not sure, as it changes from one person to the next.

I MUST. After I color Smrgol...I ended up watching some of the movie yesterday with friends who never saw it. It was awkward and awesome. But Bryugh made me YAY.

Same, really looking back at it now. I bawled over Smrgol something fierce. Bryugh was a beast though...gotta figure out how i'm going to put him down.
