Description It's here that the water falls, among many other places in Gatineau Park.

We walk along a path running parallel to a series of falls like this everytime we go climbing in an area known to climbers as the Shrine. Today I finally went up without any climbing gear with the intention of getting a photo or two of what I knew must exist.

A `londonxpress inspired deviation.

Corrections:
Very hard contrast adjustments and strong shadows in Camera Raw.
Saturation and vignette enhanced and applied in Cameraw Raw.
More vignette, border and text applied in PS.

Setup and Gear:[Nikon D70][18-70 mm AF-DX][tripod]

This is a really inspiring view. The beautiful angle really makes it like a dream.
The water also has that mysterious element what makes it so good.

Thank you very much. I never noticed but the water does have a painted quality to it. Maybe I should try and pass it off as one.

This seems to be the perfect place (lighting wise) for this type of work - no harsh highlights and a nice even amount of shadows from one side of the frame to the other. I like how you've composed this - we're drawn right towards the middle of the frame where the movement of the water is. The really nice part about the piece is that I can hear the sounds of the water on the rocks - very tranquil!

Hopefully the number of mosquitoes wasn't captured along with that of the water...kind of ruins the tranquility. I must admit that I'm a little upset at the highlights at the top of the frame that are a little extreme. Overall I'm very pleased with the photo. Thanks for the comment.

Thank you. They're amazing places. Very hard to find though.

Thankfully there wasn't much of a crop (if any) so it should print to larger than an 8x10 and still look great.

Good use of depth with the elements in the foreground . And looks like you choose a good shutter speed. The mist and water look great.
and fantastic title

Heh, one of my better titles ... not that that means much. I hadn't considered that to be why I liked the stuff in the FG but now it makes sense. Until now I just thought it made the photo look better. It really does add depth, thanks.

It's so gorgeous that it almost doesn't look real.
Looks like such a serene place - you definitely capture some true beauties.

cant really critique this one, great colors, lots of cool stuff to look at in the picture...nice saturation...the only thing annoying is the bright spot just above the waterfall, i woul have burnt that... good job

I tried dodging it but it was so sunny that there's no info left in the highlights, they're gone. Cheers

But the advantage was that I was able to try and take the photo 10+ times to make sure I had roughly what I wanted. Maybe I'll go back and look to see if I have an underexposed version of the same photo, maybe PS will blend them for me.
