Description An image I shot tonight. Saw *brian613 's picture The Old Mill and knew the location and had always wanted to go down there so I headed out tonight and got this picture. It's essentially the exact same area only from a different perspective. Not as good as The Old Mill but not too bad either, if I do say so myself.

You may post this as well. Also glad this one caught your eye. Maybe I'll have to send more your way. Should have a new batch sometime tomorrow, took a bunch just haven't finished them up yet.

and I must apologize for the lack any real initial comment - I'm sorry but it's so busy trying to run everything smoothly that if I tried to say something a little worthwhile on everything it would take forever. I just don't have that time

Heh, no problem. In fact it's pretty much expected. The group probably keeps you busy enough as it is.

The little white line on the lower left is a little strange - aside from that, I love the imitated ' widescreen ' edition effect on the photograph; it's as if it's a gorgeous cinematic still, it almost looks high-definition. That strikes me about this so much is how flat and neutral the photograph appears until your eye is drawn to the gate and that light spilling out of it, amazing natural contrast. Did you use an ND filter? Amazing work!

I'm assuming by the white line in the lower left is refering to the smokey look on top of the water. That's due to the fast moving water and a "longer" exposure. Other wise you must be talking about the little vertical pipe that snuck in, which I can't crop out without loosing some balance in the space around the doorway. As for the crop, I chose this aspect ratio basically by accident. There were three or four windows above the doorway with essentially the same light showing though which looked spectacular. Unfortunately the picture didn't really capture the windows well along with a crappy sky so I opted to chop them out.

Contrast is all natural, possibly exagerated by a WB setting on the cam. I don't think I was shooting raw that night so I would've likely had auto or shade setting. Also, the light in the doorway was surprisingly yellow so that probably added to the image. This was also the case with the light around the corner that you can't see.

Thanks for the great comment.
