Having said that, I do agree with what you've said and the picture truly is beautiful. It's just that this is not helpful for the artist much, simple encouragement can also be given through regular comments (actually critique can as well, and as such I don't really understand the use of the Critique Function to begin with).

*sigh* This is not a critique. It's a string of compliments, for which you really don't need a special box. I'm sorry if I come off a bit harsh but I'm tired of seeing this. If a picture is "perfect" to you, then there's no reason to even try to critique it. That's contradictory to begin with.

Just because I didn't say anything negative doesn't mean it's not a critique. I didn't just say, for example "this is pretty!" I explained why it's pretty and Why I like it. I believe these things Are helpful to the artist because it informs them what they should keep doing, or at least what they should keep in mind when creating other work. Thanks for You input though, I suppose. You could always write a critique, if you like. Or if you don't like the critique box, don't use it, and don't bash the people that do use it. This person asked for a critique, and I gave one. Feel free not to ask for critiques on your own work.

What makes you think you should say something negative? Pointing out mistakes and helping the artist see and correct them is not negative. If anything that's more of a positive thing than any compliment will ever be. I don't ask for critique on my pictures because I don't think it needs a special little box of it's own. From my point of view all work should be open to critique unless the artist specifically points out that they don't want it.
And actually, critique is a full critical analyzation of the work. While pointing out the strengths of a piece is part of critique, it's not all of it, perhaps even the minority. My point was, if all you're going to give is a more in-depth compliment, there's little point in using the critique function. Sadly this is something the majority of DA's members will probably never understand :/.

I can see where you are coming from and really you are right in most of what you have said.
I have to say that you are contradicting yourself. What *MultimediaPanda did in this critique was point out a lot of details that may have gotten past other people. In this case, she may have very well pointed out objects or images in the picture which could be seen as symbolic instead of just blurs in the background.
But that's a bit verbose for my point: "Critique is a full analyzation of the work." She analyzed the work and she gave the the analysis back.

It's unfortunate that you think that the majority of DA's members will never understand what a critique is or how to properly conduct one. Regardless of that thinking, I know both. while a critique is a full critical analyzation of a piece, it usually consists of both positive and negative feed back, which is what I meant by negative. I didn't mean negative as in "this is ugly" but perhaps, as an example "I think that the angle of that finger is a little off." Catch my drift? Personally, I don't care what you have to say, because this critique was not even for you, it was for the artist, but you really wanted to stick your two cents in. It had nothing to do with you from the beginning, and it still doesn't. I don't believe you get the tone of my conversation, Either. I'm not being prissy or know it all. I'm not being condescending. I am however, done with this conversation. You can continue being as Anti-Critique box as you want, but maybe you should keep it to yourself.

Lol, you do realize that you could have left out the entire second paragraph and your comment would have held about the same value, right? It has something to do with me because art makes up for the majority of my life both in the time I invest into it as well as the money I make out of it. Even if the "critique" wasn't directed to me, I still feel my point is of importance for any artist who deems themselves serious about their craft.
