On the left: Guybrush Threepwood, wannabe pirate. (from the famous Monkey Island series)On the right: Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III, Viking and dragonrider. (from How To Train Your Dragon, HTTYD for short)
I got the idea of drawing these two together after I suddenly realized how similar their respective voices are. They also have the same sense of humor.

The dialogue is actually extracted from the first game of the series, "The Secret of Monkey Island", where Guybrush needs to free a prisoner whose breath stinks so much that he's looking for a breath mint.

I'll never play Monkey Island the same way again.

It's rare that a movie is better than the book. Thank you, Dreamworks. Hopefully there will be a full-length sequel with great expansion on a plot...even if it deviates from Cressida Cowell's books.

I'm not sure what you mean by 'gag trailer'. This was the trailer they released for the remastered edition of the 2nd game.

OMIGOSH MONKEY ISLAND.
Alas and alaaaaack my only exposure to this game is the AMAZING steel drum concert one of my brothers performed in, wherein the music from Monkey Island was the main feature.
Yeah they did a lot of game musics that night. 'Twas awesomeness all around.
So I don't know anything about Guybrush Threepwood.... but I like the way you drew him! ^_^ Makes me want to actually get to know him better.... a voice similar to Hiccup's, you say?
