I wanted to add a little more detail to some of my most recent organisms. Many of their appendages are very thin, making it impossible to fully illustrate their tentacles in their full profile. Here is a close up illustration of the appendage at the tip of every tentacle. The organism illustrated is part of my speculative biology project, a member of the family Oricilidae.

The appendage is made up of two flexible tendrils which the organism uses to grasp onto objects in its environment, as well as to sense its closer surroundings using electrocytes and an acute sense of touch. The single claw at the base is used to latch onto rocks or other surfaces, similar to an ice pick or grappling hook. Though its primary use is for non-combative purposes, there are instances where this claw can be used to ward away threats.
