Description and all around are spirits

apparitions cry the blues
and i'm a ghost
cold skies and distant thunder
and screams of steel
peel paint from calm revealing real
and trains in motion
people pass walking comatose
and hidden within body houses
consuming the world through murky windows

And spirits pass unseen like winds
and leave the world unclean with sins
naked newstand succubi
beckon me from barren eyes
from glossy covers, serpentine stares like
abandoned houses
ghost towns
babylon sisters

breathing
in silent codes
a respite for perverted souls who glare
as though they hate me

I go to the place
where danger awaits me.

I'm drawn to this photo!
The brown tone (a filter?)... the poem... it is just perfect!

BitterGrapes In reply to jierumi [2007-09-27 03:30:23 +0000 UTC]

Thanks so much.
The brown tone is about 10% a filter. The photoshop recipe for this one was pretty involved. Part of it was a color adjustment layer with the blend mode set to "color".

If you like this, perhaps you'll be interested in the part ii of this series that I just posted: [link]

Thanks again!

Not to sound weird or anything, but this guy really looks like Marcus Wesson.

I like the semi-sepia tone; makes it look as though he's blending into the world and becoming...well, the title of this photo.

very well done - i like the angle and the people clumped together in the background.
would like to see it full-frame.

what post-processing methods are you using?
is that the draganizer plug-in?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

BitterGrapes In reply to iamkatia [2007-09-17 03:26:56 +0000 UTC]

All that I do to get the textures for a picture like this are part of the Photoshop program...grain, cloud filter, curves, levels, shadow and highlights...mostly things like that.

I had never heard of draganizer before you mentioned it. But I looked it up on Google and it looks very interesting!

Thank you much!

Life is cruel...and when you feel invisible...things can turn ugly. Unfortunately social skills are about the first thing that gets thrown out the window.

It's frustrating because I realize that in this century these are repeated events with no lessons ever learned.

I once spoke to someone who grew up in Somalia and he said something I'll never forget,
"Where I grew up, loneliness is a foreign concept." Meaning there was room for everyone, and everyone felt like they had a purpose.

BitterGrapes In reply to gonetomorrow [2007-09-11 09:40:56 +0000 UTC]

I hear you. A friend told me the same thing about her trip to Cuba. She said there is no homeless problem - as folks who find themselves without a place to live tend to be invited into someone's home.

Life can be cruel, I agree. This man, in spite of his gigantic stature was very soft spoken, pleasant and clear voiced. I felt a little strange about shooting him doing what he was doing. But I felt it important to capture his unique grace, beauty and dignity in spite of his immediate circumstance.

Culturally and pictorially...great contrasts. This is a guy with millions of desperate soul mates all over the world....and we let poverty (or more to the point: greed)pass as as part of our 'normal' lives.

Enigmatic guy - he's got rasta-dreadlocks, the star-of-David tatood on his arm and I cant make out the writing above it - his hand looks like its an artificial one, but that could be the light playing tricks on me... anyhow he looks like he is smiling at the world, a private joke between him and "the Maker"
