Description This is a pair of goggles I just recently finished making. They were originally some scrap Honda headlight housings that I had jokingly made into goggles at my old job, but I decided to take them the rest of the way. The detachable focus ring was also constructed from a scrap headlight housing, with a clear plastic lense inserted. The lenses on the actual goggles are actually clear Christmas ornament halves (they're meant to be filled with various things, I believe, but I liked how dome lenses looked. The key was in one of those Jim Holtz Idea-ology packs from stores that stock scrapbooking supplies (an element that I like, though I'm not particularly proud of on principal). The rest is just brass machine screws, various leather pieces, some nifty French script duck cloth for the strap and a fair amount of painting and weathering. All in all, pretty pleased with these.

Nice use for what I call bubble lenses. I used the packaging from a pack of ping pong balls.

Ah, yeah... They add more dynamic than the normal flat lenses, you know?
Sounds like you look in unconventional places for materials as well!

Indeed! I really like the bubble lenses! They give the goggles, or in my case, masks with built in goggles, more character.
And, yes, I'm always looking for alternative/unconventional materials, especially if it makes it easier to use and cheaper on my wallet, yet still a viable material.

That is a perk to working in automotive plastics; every once in a while I get to take home some scrap parts or components that I can potentially make into props or accessories. Definitely easy on the wallet xD

My sister got into steampunk lately, and she bought goggles too, but they're nothing in comparison to this! I can only imagine the amount of work and creativity going into this piece!

They actually went together fairly quickly, it's the weathering/making them look like they've had some use that takes the time. Thank you, though, and thank you for adding them to your favourites as well!

Then, I guess, you're good at what you're doing!
