Description
Don’t let the moments pass you by
Some things I thought I’d never lose,
Was lost along the way.
I feel I belong nowhere in my own
belonging to every girl,
Yet no girl belongs to me…

Conception
This piece is an experimental. I wanted to try my hand at mimicking a REAL style, and at the same time, incorporating my own flavour! The style in question is obviously Japanese Illustration or Print.
I briefly looked at Japanese and Chinese traditional art styles, tried to merge them together, and then further translate it into more of a ‘westernized’ digital style, but still trying to keep to the classical Asian-feel.
Only my character and the initial shape of the umbrella was stock. As a finished product, everything has been crafted manually by mouse& brush, not cut-and-paste.
As my seasoned dev-watchers will notice, I’ve INCREASED the border size – So that it may accommodate the authentic Japanese-Chinese border style that usually appears on art scrolls and other artistic displays. I have kept my own border style within it of course. I drew the mountains and the tree via brushing – That was fun.
The umbrella has been crafted in such a way I wanted to block out my characters eyes and top of her head – This is because I wanted to create a sense of mystery of which she could be, or rather that she can be anyone of us… not a guy of course, only a girl can work for this piece lol.
The descriptive, Chinese title on the piece translates to: “Love, Before Anno-Domini A.D”
Which is also a Chinese Song Title. However, I couldn’t translate it into anything remotely close to what the song conveys to me.
