Ah. After an untold amount of hours and a total of 100 layers, the cover is finally done. I am so happy with this that I can't even put it into words. I'm especially glad with the japanese symbols and my use of the Japanese flag. And for those of you wondering who the man on the left is, he is Emperor Keitei (emperor of Japan in the early 6th century). So now that this is done, let the remake begin. Wow... I can't even imagine how organized you must have been to finish this!! Amazing piece! I wish I had more time to do really detailed pieces like this... or comics at all!!! I'd really love to tho... this inspires me so much!

Yes and no. They are actually very very distant relatives. ^_^ Good eye for detail.

Be wary of using solid blocks of Photoshop texture in a piece like this where nothing else has texture as it's kind of jarring (i.e. the red background) and makes it look like you're using it for the sake of taking up space.
Additionally, if the man in white is your hero/protagonist/main character, you should make him the largest figure in the composition so that he's the focus with the two other characters more in the background. Not only will this create a sense of depth but will enhance the characters presence.

You might want to try a little cell-shading? Certain objects, in general, look better with a good mixture of cell-shading and soft-shading~ Also, you might want to try putting more lineweight, so your characters will pop out more?
