Description (Made: 5/23/17 Colored and posted: 5/27/17)

Some lighting practice using redeemed!Megara. In light her black body is shown to have tints of red and gold, and her wings now have a starry sky pattern. I was trying to show that here while experimenting and practicing with light on black subjects. It's not perfect in any sense, but that's why I say it's practice. I'm playing with light here.

The dragon in question was following in a smaller size to avoid attention, that smaller size being her human disguise she had used since 1995, when she chose to hide among humans.

A flying reptile the width of a passenger plane and almost the size of a mountain as it is would be much more easily spotted.

"I'm fine." She replied from under her drawn up hood to her jacket. She was handling this quite well...as though she had been through it before.

This was one of the biggest mountains in the region, thankfully, and with plenty of mountains in this range, Meg could hide anywhere she chose to. "My family's c-cabin should be just ahead..." Lillia said, sneezing. She disliked the cold, mostly because she was very sensitive to it. She always had been, and it was snowing presently, which wasn't helping things for the human girl.

This didn't go unnoticed by Meg, who looked at her. Concern on her face under her hoodie.

"Why are we going to the cabin anyway?" She asked, more out of curiosity than anything.

"Well, it's unused and this mountain range can be dangerous to anyone who isn't familiar with how cold it can get up here... if anyone's following you, they'll have to prepare first right? If nothing else, this should slow them down. As for the cabin, well it has food and provides a bit of warmth and shelter from the snowstorms that frequent this area." Lillia explained.

"..." Meg looked ahead. As a dragon, the cold was nothing to her. Her blood was like magma practically...but it was true humans would have a harder time getting there.

"What about you?"

Lillia stumbled, trying not to seem cold as she moved towards the cabin. She started to slow a bit as she tried to make her way forward.

"You look about ready to pass out." She frowned.

"I-it does seem further then I r-remember.... th-then again, I've never tried to g-get here on f-foot..." Lillia replied, unable to help her shivering now. It was about sundown, so the temperature was dropping and dropping fast.

"..." Meg stopped, and was surrounded in blue flames. When they cleared, she stood where the human had been in her dragon form. But at a smaller scale. About the size of a larger than average horse.

The dragon moved forward with ease, tail brushing their footprints away behind her as she walked up next to the human.

"It will be faster if I carry you." She suggested, "I don't hear or smell anyone for miles, so we'll be fine."

The dragon crouched so she could climb on. There was a small webbed fin area at the gap between her neck and wings that looked ok to sit on. (It folds down easily without causing her pain)

(Ok)

Lillia carefully climbed onto the dragon, sitting on this spot between her neck and wings. The human girl's skin was very chilled, showing that the cold was getting to her more then she let on.

Meg moved forward, traveling much quicker on her four clawed feet than the trudge they were going at on two... Her tail still sweeping up their footprints as she went.

Lillia held on, noticing that Meg seemed to generate quite a bit of heat. The human girl glanced up as snow began to fall. She hoped that it wouldn't become a blizzard.

Lillia did her best to try and remain awake and alert, but it was getting very hard to do. She didn't want to fall off from falling asleep, which would likely mean death for her in this cold weather.

(Fall off or find out that there's no firewood and stuff at the Cabin?)

As they reached the cabin, Lillia lost her fight to stay conscious and slumped, slipping off Meg and falling into a snowbank as she started to succumb to hypothermia.

BlackDragon-Studios In reply to AmethystMuse [2017-06-12 19:42:36 +0000 UTC]

(And then that will be what leads the dragon to have to swallow her to keep her warm once inside.)

Meg stopped, eyes widening when she saw this. She tried calling her classmate's name to wake her up, but she seemed to be unreachable. Cursing in ancient draconic, Meg looked around. They were alone, and looking up at the sky she saw that a blizzard was coming. She had to get her classmate inside abd warmed up fast...

Grabbing Lillia by the back of her coat (I'm pretty sure she would be wearing one...), Meg pulled her back onto her back with the help of a foreleg then positioned her wings to keep the human stable.

She then took off at a gallop toward the cabin which she could see clearly with her keen eyesight now. Just a bit further...

Lillia was still very unconscious when they reached the cabin. Next to it was the Woodstack for building fires in the fireplace, but it seemed completely empty. But maybe there was some inside?

Meg reached out to open the door quickly. Hoping it was to locked. (But if it is she can bust the door down and then repair it.)

AmethystMuse In reply to BlackDragon-Studios [2017-06-12 21:26:07 +0000 UTC]

It wasn't locked, mostly because nothing of value beyond food and shelter was up here and it was an available source of relative safety and comfort for any weary traveler if they got caught on this mountain in a blizzard.

Meg entered the cabin and looked around for somewhere to put Lillia down. (I think that was her name)

AmethystMuse In reply to BlackDragon-Studios [2017-06-12 21:34:38 +0000 UTC]

(It is)

The cabin had a bed, the space itself was as cold as death. There was no wood in the indoor wood stack by the fireplace, or so it seemed. For now it was probably best to set Lillia down on the bed and wrap her up in blankets, provided she wasn't so cold that her body wouldn't generate heat.

BlackDragon-Studios In reply to AmethystMuse [2017-06-12 21:40:54 +0000 UTC]

Meg decided to do that then look around for something to generate heat. Itcwas the 21st century...surely there was a heater somewhere...

AmethystMuse In reply to BlackDragon-Studios [2017-06-12 21:47:19 +0000 UTC]

There was nothing to be found, save for one small heat lamp, but the generator was turned off. The blizzard hit the small cabin, rattling it quite a bit. Lillia shivered softly under her blanket, having difficulty warming up like this.

BlackDragon-Studios In reply to AmethystMuse [2017-06-12 21:53:56 +0000 UTC]

Meg cursed under her breath. Nothing of use in here. She looked back over at Lillia. If she didn't do something, her classmate would die. Unfortunately most if not all Meg's magic spells were destructive, so she couldn't use magic to help her, and setting her on fire was also instant death... Setting fire to any of the furniture in the cabin too might be a bad idea.

But she couldn't let Lillia die after the help she had been giving Meg. She owed her...

(I'm thinking that because Meg had to run the rest of the way to the cabin, she couldn't cover the footprints anymore. So the people after her found the place. That would cause her to rush and because she can't carry Lillia without her getting even more cold, she has to swallow her. Both to keep her warm in general, and to keep her warm while Megara flies out into the blizzard.)

AmethystMuse In reply to BlackDragon-Studios [2017-06-13 00:54:04 +0000 UTC]

(That makes sense.)

Lillia shivered more, though her breathing slowed. She needed help and she needed it now. While Meg was trying to think of what to do, shouting could be heard from down the mountain, still far off, but still audible.

BlackDragon-Studios In reply to AmethystMuse [2017-06-13 01:09:36 +0000 UTC]

She whipped her head around. Shoot! They were nearby...

She turned back to Lillia. She couldn't just leave her here. She couldn't risk hope the humans would help her after she helped a dragon, and even if they did they may not get here in time.

She looked toward the door then the windows. They had to leave. But she couldn't carry Lillia out there in a blizzard. There was only one way she could think to do this... It would keep the human warm and easier to transport.

The dragon sighed, then unwrapped the blankets around the human, grateful she was unconscious... She then lifted her so she was sitting up and rose to her hind legs, sitting on her haunches.

The dragon then opened her jaws as wide as they would go and lowered her head toward the unconscious girl's body before engulfing her upper half and started to lift her as she began to carefully swallow. Trying not to graze the soft skin with her sharp fangs as she did so.

AmethystMuse In reply to BlackDragon-Studios [2017-06-13 01:19:03 +0000 UTC]

Luckily, Lillia had enough clothing that if Meg's sharp fangs did graze against them, they'd provide Lillia with some degree of protection. She went in easily enough, barely stirring save in response to being surrounded by warmth.

The shouts steadily drew nearer, but thanks to the blizzard, they were slowed and faced the same risks that Lillia had been facing. The mountain region was massive, so Meg could probably find a cave to hide in or fly away altogether.

BlackDragon-Studios In reply to AmethystMuse [2017-06-13 01:32:42 +0000 UTC]

Once the human was fully swallowed, Meg looked for a back door to go through. If there wasn't one she would just take a window.

AmethystMuse In reply to BlackDragon-Studios [2017-06-13 01:35:49 +0000 UTC]

There was a backdoor it seemed, and the voices were still a little far, meaning that there was a chance that they could get away cleanly. Lillia, meanwhile, snuggled into the warmth as Meg carried her along inside of her.

BlackDragon-Studios In reply to AmethystMuse [2017-06-13 01:38:53 +0000 UTC]

Meg padded to the back door and pushed it open then closed it with her tail. She then took off at a run. She had to get as far from the cabin as possible before she could feel safe to transform. She didn't care about her footprints being seen anymore though. They would be covered...and she would be in the air by then anyway.

Her pursuers hadn't seen her leave thanks to the dense tree line and cabin's bulk, and Lillia's shivering was slowly starting to fade as she settled into a deeper sleep.

Once a good distance away, the dragon reached for her magic and in another plume of blue flame, she had grown to her true size, the small buldge that had been Lillia in her belly now nonexistent as she was safely tucked away in the shrunk stomach tissue so she wouldn't jostle about.

The dragon looked over her shoulder toward the cabin, seeing the hunters had made it here first. A low hiss passed her jaws and she felt an urge to burn them to ash. But she pushed that thought down shortly after. That was exactly what caused the humans to want to attack her in the first place...

She snorted and spread her massive wings before taking flight. The strong winds no match for her strength as she rose higher into the sky and flew toward the mountains.

AmethystMuse In reply to BlackDragon-Studios [2017-06-13 02:57:03 +0000 UTC]

The cabin had been on one of the shortest mountains in the extensive region. Many of the other ones were bigger and taller, and many of them had a huge cavern system that networked and connected each mountain from below. Lillia had suggested these mountains for their sheer size and the potential for Meg to hide and stay safe here.

Inside, Lillia snuggled into the steady warmth that surrounded her and was starting to wake as she warmed up. She tried to look around, curious about where she was. This wasn't the cabin, and she could hear a massive heartbeat. That sound combined with the soothing warmth made her surprisingly relaxed and she felt very safe. "Mmmm...." she didn't feel awake enough to say anything just yet, and drifted off back to sleep, warmer and more relaxed then before.

Meg flew through the mountain ranges, wanting to find somewhere in the middle to wait out the storm then figure out what to do. Arkelm was going to lecture her something awful for this fumble...

AmethystMuse In reply to BlackDragon-Studios [2017-06-13 05:39:30 +0000 UTC]

(The fumble of nearly getting caught or dragging a human into her troubles?)

Lillia slept peacefully as Meg flew. Down below was a cavern entrance, nearly invisible save for when seen at just the right angle. It was one of the many entrances into the network of various sized caverns and tunnels down below the mountains. It would make for a safe place to wait out the storm, and with it's entrance being hard to access by foot and plane, would provide some buffer of a defense between her and her enemies.

(Becoming exposed. Magic is kept hidden after the war that decided how things will move forward. Science won, and magic retreated. It's all but forgotten outside of fairytales now aside from by select people like hunters.

But getting a human involved is a problem as well. Especially one that isn't one of her small group of friends in on the secret. Who he had met and knew about. Meg may be an adult in reality, but she is reformed...and you can never fully trust yourself to be a better person alone once you've been down that dark path.)

She decided I was a good spot and circled before descending. Landing smoothly and slithering inside where she shook the snow off herself and laid down to rest.

(I see. Lillia won't tell though. She's that shy girl in class who is secretly wishing magic and fantasy and dragons and stuff are real.)

Lillia woke up again once she felt Meg come to a resting position. "..... Meg....? Are you still there....?" She asked, still feeling sleepy, but also wondering if everything had been a dream. She had always wished that magic was real, and her mother had always filled her head with stories about magic, dragons, and so many other things ever since she was little. She was always shy during school, and felt like an outcast since most people didn't believe in magic, so she usually kept to herself, reading books and drawing pictures. Many adults, including her father, had tried to tell her that magic wasn't real and that she needed to grow up, but she refused to listen. And finally she got to meet a real life dragon. She hoped that it wasn't a dream or illusion.

(I think she and Meg (or myself) could be good friends sooner or later then. Meg usually kept to her group because of the secret goings on under the noses of humans (which made them seem like a rather recluse and exclusive clique), but Lillia would be welcomed into it I think.)

Meg's fins behind her second set of horns rose as she lifted her head. Though muffled, the voice was clearly her classmate's.

"Lillia?" She sounded relieved the girl was still alive, "are you alright? How are you feeling?"

She looked back toward her abdomenial region as she spoke, using a calm tone in case the girl realized where she was and may freak out because of it.

(Sounds good. As for why Lillia offered to help, well sometimes when you're entire world has been inspired by the heros in the books you read, sometimes you are inspired to offer help, no matter how small you think it is. Lillia is kinda based on how I was in school. I tended to keep to myself and loved to read fantasy and magic books, even performing some of the 'spells' in them. From that, I started wanting to help others, even if it meant redirecting any classroom aggression towards myself... )

"I'm fine... where are you? And why is it so dark...?" Lillia asked, sounding calm, if a bit confused. She felt around and listened to her surroundings even as she tried to sit up.

(Lillia is also the type to be fascinated with the subject of cryptozoology and anything related to the idea of magical creatures.)

(That's pretty cool.)

"Er...well, we're technically in a cave...but you're in my stomach..." Meg explained awkwardly, "you passed out from the cold, then those hunters found the cabin, so I had to think fast and this was the only way to keep you warm. No harm will come to you being in there though, I promise. My magic works in different ways."

(That's pretty cool too.

I also think I figured out the full story behind this situation. Lillia witnessed something she shouldn't have. Which was Meg's secret life. Dragon Slayers just happened to be involved, but they're the only other ones that saw Meg change. But they knew what she was already.

I think what happened...maybe they had to work together on some school project (something Meg was reluctant to do knowing her second life would interfere with time she could spare on it) and were heading to one or the other's place after school to work on it. Or to the library to do research for it, and the Slayers appeared (that or a magic enemy of hers).

They had something that can be used to expose magic, something Meg wasn't prepared for, that forced her to transform. She then had to escape with Lillia or the human would be hurt in some way for her unknown involvement.)

(That works nicely.)

"Ooooh.... so that's why it feels so warm and soft in here....." Lillia said, sounding more fascinated then scared. She was feeling the walls curiously. "It's actually pretty cozy in here..." she admitted shyly. "Can all dragons do stuff like this?" She asked, her curiousity showing.
