BACKGROUND

Personality: A very hyper thing. She’s got a spring in her step and a fire in her spirit. She’s always seen in some floating, airy motion; running, trotting, or just freaking out and partying hard. She’s also very hypersensitive with mood swings, and the slightest wrong movement may set her off into a fury of a fit. She can also be scared easily over something she has seen over a dozen times and had never spooked at before. There is really no certain type of rider for her, she can freak with anyone under saddle without much warning. She also isn’t fond of dogs, or the barn cats that like to visit her in the stall. She also doesn’t seem to understand that children are much more fragile than her adult handlers, and has a tendency to push them over, unintentionally causing them harm, so she mustn’t be left alone with children.

History: Melody had been very good lately about not snooping through the sales ads and ignoring emails from online sales lists alerts. From time to time she had the occasional rescue call that she couldn’t find it in her heart to ignore, but normal sales were put on the back burner. The Chronicles was rapidly growing, and new imports were coming in on what seemed like a daily basis. Their Akillian herd had exploded from a single stallion to six mares, a quickly growing colt, and five stallions. There were more expected Warmbloods, Quarter Horses, Thoroughbreds, Arabians, and others on their way to the farm.
Melody was thumbing through all the paper work, signing over registration papers, ownership contracts, and other various articles while filing and mailing the documents. The papers were accumulating quiet the pile in the Chronicle’s office. Melody had taken the day off from the farm and training to start working through them all.
A fire in the study’s fireplace crackled, and a soft hum of a classical hymn played the sounds in the air. Shifting paperwork set off the otherwise comforting sounds, and Melody sat for a moment, reading over the registration fees and receipts for the farm’s latest addition; a dappled bay Dutch Warmblood mare by the name of Dayzi Dukes.
She was a cute thing, but still had trouble in her leg which sported an old fracture. The farm would surely be in debt by now with vet bills if it had not been for their onsite vet, Doctor Maverrick Johnathan Steele. Doctor Steele had been the Chronicles’ vet since it was known by another name and Melody was a child. He lived in his own house on the stable’s premises in the East living quarters where another few houses and a small apartment complex sat. He lived free of rent for his services. Recently Maverrick had been assigned as a researcher for the Akillian breed with an affiliate stable known as Silmes Dragon Stable. The Chronicles’ did much business with their friends there. Today would be business as usual when Maverrick knocked softly on the office door.
“It’s open,” Melody said, never looking up from her paperwork.
“Good morning, Mel,” said the vet, his voice smooth a rich. He was the only one that could get away call Melody by that name.
“Hello Maverrick,” she smiled, turning her attention to her friend. “Good news, ‘eh? I don’t see a cloud in your eyes.”
“Well, perhaps some news you wouldn’t expect from me,” he began. “Before I left SDS after my last excursion to the Akillian Islands, I was handed information about an upcoming auction.” He took a seat in from of the desk before continuing, “I put the paper away in my folder because I knew the farm’s current, uh, situation with the growing number of horses. However, I was recently contacted by the farm asking if we were interested because the auction didn’t have as many bidders as they were expecting.”
Melody looked at him, “I see where this is going.”
“Here,” he said, handing her a sheet of paper with photos of the available horses.
“More Marwaris? We’re still awaiting the arrival of the other foals,” she said. “Although, that light bay is a handsome fellow.”
“Yes, but it’s the chestnut I’m looking at. We could use another filly for the breeding program, not to mention she’s a stunner. She’s got some legs on her, so I could imagine another jumper once Felicity is to retire to brood,” he reasoned.
“Felicity won’t be retiring for quite some time; in fact, I’m mailing her papers off to HEWA and BWP for her finest blood certifications. She’s only going to excel from here,” she said, flashing the paper work and some recent photos at Maverrick.
“That’s wonderful news! Congratulations. But, if you could just humor me; I have a trip to SDS to start another tour of the Akillian Islands in a few days. We could get you a round trip ticket, and you could at least have a gander?” he said, tapping the photo of the chestnut mare.
Melody stared at the handsome, 37 year old veterinarian, trying not to fall for it. It failed. “Alright..”
“Thanks,” he smiled, and promptly rose from his chair and went out the door.

Melody had wanted to return to SDS for a long while now to meet her friends again and show them the progress of the horses purchased from the stable. She was exhausted from the plane trip, but nonetheless carried on to SDS the same day. Somehow, Maverrick never seemed phased by plane trips and was as awake as he could be. Heavy with sleep, Melody dragged her feet a little, looking for Gota, but before she could Maverrick directed her to the Marwari’s.
“There she is! She’s prettier in person,” Maverrick admired, gazing at the chestnut filly in awe.
The filly was in her own, small grassy paddock, easy for potential buyers to look at her. She kept herself occupied by running and sprinting at all corners of the small pasture, ignoring the strangers that came to look at her. Maverrick and Melody stayed, leaning against the pasture fence for a good 30 minutes, just watching the filly. Maverrick pointed out all the goods about her, noting the strong legs, the intelligent eyes, the hard hooves. Melody had dozed off slightly, resting her head on her arm while still leaning against the railing. Maverrick looked over at her and smiled, placing his around her shoulders as he continued to watch the chestnut filly.
Melody was stirred when a child, nothing more than 3 years, bumped into her. She looked over at him and the boy’s father, a tall, dark skinned man with short, dark hair. The boy was pointing towards the filly, “Ko-jee” the boy said, seeming to struggle as he tried.
“Konijn, MyKael. Konijn,” the father corrected.
Melody looked at the filly, thinking this was perhaps what she was called. Melody never saw the rabbit in the pasture that the little boy was actually pointing to.

EXTRA

Artist Note: I want, I want!

This is probably the most gorgeous one in the entire auction! Truth be told, I’ve been secretly watching this auction, and finally gave in and tried out for one.
I have two other Marwaris, so I think she’ll make a great addition to the program. I plan on getting her a nice show jumping record if I win this mare. She will also join a strict breeding program to make these Marwaris more popular on HArpg.
LOOKIT THOSE EARS!!
EDIT:: We won! We won!

Don't you laugh at me, woman! xD I liked the name, even though the breed is from India.. I don't understand myself either sometimes.
I thought there might be a lucky bunny that might've escaped from the clutches of your dragon horses.

Thank you so so much! I'm very excited to have her!
By the way, what will become of the light bay?
