That's exactly why I chose to make some, too
I would say it has to 8 because all the other regions have 8 each, and you have to have 8 badges to enter the Pokemon League

Well, can the regions be more? You win more badges, you have more to choose the best from? I`m just asking `cause I`m a newbie-maniac of all-things pokemon and don`t really know much about badges...

Ah, ok. Well, it is like this:
In every Pokemon region (Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh and Unova) there is a pokemon league. To enter the pokemon league in each region you have to win at 8 gyms. When you've won at a gym you get the gym's badge as a proof you've beaten the gym leader. You knew that, right? So if you want to to be as close to the "real" pokemon universe I wouldn't change that.

i knew that . And the regions have to be 5 with 8 cities in each? or can there be more than 1 gym at a city,a city without a gym, gym in the middle of nothing...etc.?

I think there are a different number of towns in each region... But not each town or city needs a gym. Have you played the games? There's not a gym in every town. If you play the games just copy as much as you can without over doing it

i know nothing of the games . I don`t think i can play them as my computer is old and with aweful videocard.
