Description
The highlands are a harsh and unforgiving place, home to bandits, malevolent creatures and barbaric clans that cling to the Old Gods. Food is scarce, the hunters are many and they soon turn on each other to acquire what they need. Those that survive in this barren realm gather in Shadowden, a ramshackle city of tents and crumbling ruins under the shadow of a massive outcropping. Instead of indiscriminately killing each other within its limits, they challenge one another in brutal and bloody arena matches, winner takes all. It is here that Lothar was raised.

Lothar was born to one of the clanhead’s many wives. While others bore the clanhead many, he was the sole child of this woman and had all of her love and adoration. Sadly, in a raid by a rival clan she was killed and all love had left with her. There was only the cold affection he received from the rest of his family. So he became an outcast, but was still restless in showing his worth them. When he was old enough he entered into the arena and came back out with the head of his enemy and the scars to prove it. As the years dragged on, he slew hundreds of challengers, mastering a variety of weapons in the process. The sword and axe continue to be his choice tools of destruction.

When Lothar had finally raised high into the ranks of the arena, there was one last man he would have to defeat: His father, the reigning champion. It was inevitable that this day would come, they both knew it. Throughout all his life, Lothar had never received a shred of acknowledgement, not even a prideful nod. Today was no different. Lothar’s father still looked down on him as the runt of the family, the son that was never wanted. To defeat him was to prove that Lothar was worthy of at least his respect. When the gong sounded, he showed no mercy and no remorse for the man he never once called “father”.

Lothar. He’s the man that punches the teeth out of dragons and makes ogres run for their mothers. He tags along with Adelaide and Cuthbert in their adventure, for greater glory that he can't find locally.
