Description

The Gungsu is DiMaki’s first foray into heavy ACE construction, an idea that before its introduction had been treated as something of a contradiction in terms. Unlike its Balero or Exchange competitors, the Gungsu is not primarily a brawler, but a dedicated support ACE that trades off some of its direct combat ability for large numbers of missiles and other artillery weapons. Ideally, the Gungsu’s victims never even see it lurking in the rear of the formation while its companion Sang-eos and Hayabusas draw attention and fire. This specialization, along with the ACE’s price, has made it somewhat unpopular in mercenary service.
As with several other DiMaki ACEs, the Gungsu’s common nickname pays tribute to its design process. Being such an innovation in DiMaki’s arsenal, the G-Type chassis was not derived from an existing ACE but rather evolved from one of more than a hundred concepts floated by different engineering and design teams from around the company. The so-called “Project Mega” sifted carefully through these concepts, finally selecting #33 as the base for the future G-Type.
