Early in the morning, Redflame yawned and stretched as he got out of bed. He peered outside the warrior's den and sighed. It had snowed even more last night. He was hungry, as prey had been somewhat scarce, so he thought it would do well for him to hunt. He looked around to see if any other cat was awake and spotted Stormcloud.

Stormcloud was thankful for her white splotches. It helped her blend some what in the white winter wonderland the territory had become. She flicked her tail, the clan was hauling tail a lot more than usual in hunting. Long trips that left their pads cold had less turnout than it would have given in the summer months. She looked up, it was lightly snowing again. "Ugh, don't we have enough?" She shook her pelt and was about to head out when she spotted a red warrior's fur out of the corner of her eye. She hesitated a second, Stormcloud didn't know this cat very much yet. Why not...? "Hey, Red...flame? Was it? You heading out? I could use a buddy out there."

Though his fur had thickened into a plush soft coat, Redflame wasn't too camouflaged anymore, so he hadn't been too successful lately. He didn't have an apprentice, so he usually had most of the day to himself. Since he was a pretty active cat, he easily got bored. His expression brightened at the thought of company. He was going to go hunting anyways. "Hi! ... Stormcloud right? sure! yeah, I was just about to head out myself. I bet if we work together we'll catch much more prey than if we went alone."

Stormcloud nodded. She loved her clan like family but even still, had a tendency to stick to her blood relatives most of the time. Especially as of late, after her father Nightlight passed away. "Lets beat this snow's tail! The prey will be harder to find, but much slower in the snow..." The she-cat padded out of camp with the red-coated tom. Once they were far enough away from the strong scent of cat that the camp gave off, she scented the air with a slightly open mouth. Her ears perked. She lowered her body and scented a mouse, crawling around under the snow. She stepped lightly, closer and closer until she pounced head first into the snow! (Like a fox) It looked silly, but she perked back up, shaking the snow from her head with a grey mouse between her jaws.

Redflame watched, impressed. "Woah! Were'd you learn that technique? Maybe I'll give it a try!" he said. "You must have extraordinary hearing too, being able to catch prey without seeing it." He opened his jaws to taste the air and got the faint scent of a vole (tiny mouse-like animal). He crept silently through the snow toward the scent. He couldn't see it but he knew it was somewhere beneath the snow. He couldn't pin-point it's exact location. He listened harder... hesitant at first. Then he tried to imitate Stormcloud and pounced head first. The vole moved from beneath his paws, and he almost lost it. But now he could see it and he scooped it out of the snow and killed it.

"Sweet!" Stormcloud purred, watching him. She padded over once he'd finished his kill with her own catch and padded at the dirt near a rock, dropping her mouse in the shallow scoop of ground. "We can leave them here while we catch some more.." She suddenly realized how good she felt... "I haven't felt this good in a long time. The journey.. then my father dying... this is simple, but really fun." She swished her tail in joy, perking her ears. She could hear more munching nearby, but the prey felt larger. "I bet it's a rabbit... wanna do some teamwork and ambush it?" She crouched down playfully, "You could sneak up behind it and spook it right into my paws and I can wait on the opposite side."

He looked at her with a warm smile. "Yeah, I feel the same way." He angled his ears toward the sound of the rabbit, trying to listen for it since he couldn't see it. He crouched down with her, feeling a burst of excitement. "Yeah! Lets do it!" He listened carefully and silently creeped forward toward the sound and stopping on the opposite side of Stormcloud. He caught her eye and nodded. He pounced where he thought the rabbit would be and frightened it as they'd planned. It raced out of the snow towards Stormcloud. Redflame let out a mrrow of triumph. >:3

Stormcloud hid in the tall grasses, opposite of where Redflame prowled. She spotted the brown grey rabbit - it was medium sized and seemed in good health despite the winter conditions. There was no way they could outrun it - ambush was best. When Redflame pounced the rabbit bolted right into Stormcloud's paws. She held onto the struggling prey with both paws and bit it's neck quickly before the smaller mammal could kick her chest with it's deadly hind claws. Her heart beat fast and she purred, emerging from the grass with it dangling from her jaws. She dropped it, "That was great! We make a good team i think." The she-cat purred. She was liking this tom's company more and more. It wasn't so bad, making friends. She felt more confident.

Redflame purred with delight as she caught the rabbit. He was impressed and growing fond of her. Redflame smiled from ear to ear. "Yeah, we do! Nice catch!" He felt as if he could do this forever. "We should hunt together more often, I think the clan will be well fed if we do!" he meowed happily. This was a lot of fun!

"This should feed a few cats. We should take our catches back to camp, I can't carry much else with this rabbit." Stormcloud took tfhe rabbit by its scruff. It was going to be a haul back to the large twisted tree that was camp.

Redflame nodded in agreement. He picked up his catch and followed her back to camp.
