Description Whew, been a while since I last posted one of these...
I don't have that many references for Demetrius but these cover quite a chunk of his life but you might realize some of them are antagonists to some of Astaroth's references, well that should explain a lot. Ok, so here we go

EDIT: I must be getting old... forgot one of the most important influences.

Influences:
- Kerchak - Disney's Tarzan:
It's hard for me to tell them apart in terms of personality. Both take their responsabilities very seriously and have been through some bad experiences in life that played a very important part in shaping their demeanor.

- Lord Darcia III - Wolf's Rain:
- I took reference for most of his appearance for Demetrius although Darcia is supposed to look quite a few years younger while in terms of vampire aging, Demetrius is supposed to be in his mid 50's by now. Darcia seems like a stoic guy at first but has some deeply troubled stuff going on with him until he finally breaks and reveals himself to be an utter maniac. Also, science. Darcia seems to be knowledgeable enough (not to mention he has the means) to create a flower-person on his own. Though Demetrius is hardly that sophisticated he also made his experiments while in later years of his life.

- Adult Simba - The Lion King:
- Might be hard to believe but Demetrius also had his moments of self-doubt while he was younger, and oh did he lack guidance sometimes.

- King Louis XIV - BBC Versailles:
- I'd say both Kerchak and King Louis as portrayed by George Blagden have similar characteristics when it comes to ruling over their social groups. Although Kerchak's resistance borders pure and simple intolerance at times, Louis has some notable ruthlessness when it comes to the pursuit of order and balance (not to mention the status quo). That on top of both being work-o-holics inspired many of Demetrius policies and way of thinking. It's a dog eat king world out there after all.

- The Beast - Disney's Beauty and the Beast:
- Temper, temper, temper. It seems the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, yes? Also, the way the Beast is so obssessively protective of his secrets and weaknesses does reflect on Demetrius as well.

- Kocoum - Disney's Pocahontas:
- A lot was left to say about Kocoum in the movie due to his untimely death, but I still find him very much like Demetrius in his younger years when he started to show skills in leadership in times of crisis and, well, both have that stone-faced mug, what's not to love? And hey, say what you want about Kocoum's smile but that boy had a good head on his shoulders.

- Peter Steele - Type O Negative (vocals)
- At least during his 90's phase. Sure, Demetrius isn't probably that tall and their personalities differ in most aspects, so it's mostly down to physical appearence and how Steele carried himself as this sort of commanding presence. Funny in one interview he said he had some trouble fantasizing about stuff, for lyrics and whatnot, so for him things had to have at least a minimum of rationality, either that or he would simply burst out laughing. Other than this commitment to reason, there aren't any psychological traits I can think of that rubbed on Demetrius (on Ast that's another story though...)

- Ambassador Mercy - Marie Antoinette (2006 film)
- Here's a guy who's already in a difficult position handling a war and having to answer to king and country and NOW also has to juggle a quirky teenager's antics into the mix. Yeesh... wouldn't you be a big ball of pent-up stress in that situation? My point exactly.
