Description Hiccup is such a stud

This is the romance scene from chapter 22 in the story "Hitchups"

********
(Scene)

"I've watched you grow," Gudrid repeated for what could have been the fifth time. "Can you blame me for falling in love with you?"

Hiccup jerked, gaping at the woman who continued to give their united hands most of her attention. The words stung him; the last time he heard them were from his mother's lips.

Gudrid lifted her face, jaw clenched in determination and sorrow, her eyes moments away from watering.

"Kiss me."

Hiccup was beyond over thinking things, or breaking down reasoning. His inquiry had burned out; he could no longer puzzle over lifespans or time or heroes.

He finally managed to set aside Framherja, relinquishing the heat in his palms and replacing it with the sides of Gudrid's soft face. He drew her closer, breathing in her scent.

And then he kissed her as he dreamed of kissing her, in dreams formerly unknown to HugrvΓΆllr.

(End Scene)
************

Honestly... I'm not that big on the lovey dovey stuff. I prefer action but I felt like I would explode if I didn't get this out of my system. And it was really only after I finished this that I realized that Cupid Day was right around the corner so this fits in nicely for this time of year.

Happy Birthday to Avannak who is now (insert age here)

In order to get myself in the zone for this picture I made a playlist that I listened to while coloring. Here is a little insight on what makes my brain tick.

Nice job, lady! I like how Hiccup is now taller than Gudrid and that he still has the ragged clothes and long hair and dirty appearance from before- just not the injuries.

Nice, touch, too, Gudrid was crying. Hiccup's eyes are closed, so he'll never know. What a chick! It's so sad that she, like many other wonderful people, never gets the love she deserves- just helps others to discover their own destinies.

I don't find it creepy that Gudrid could be the Elder and is kissing Hiccup. True, she'd never do that in real life, but at this unreal moment they are similar in age, and they are of a similar attraction and personality. So they are enjoying a moment that never could happen based on their real timelines.

I didn't want to add the injuries because I think that in the realm their in Hiccup wouldn't have them, his clothes would still be torn, but his injuries gone.

She's crying, so sad...

Honestly, I don't do lovey dovey, it's just so :blech: But heartache is fun to show. I love doing extreme emotions.

Yes, right now they should just enjoy the moment and the time they have together but honestly I don't know how Hiccup would react if he found out that the elder WAS Gudrid.

This is why I stay away from love, it's far to confusing and complicated for my tastes. I leave all that to other people to write about since they have some kind of experiance in it.

I am the same way regarding lovey dovey stuff. I find a lot of it much too overdone for me.

I have to admit I like it when a romance happens in a story, but I prefer to see it come about as part of the plot, not the main plot (as it is in fwuff stories- ugh), and that it is based on friendship first rather than drama and heightened emotion- kind of like some relationships I've seen that I really admire. The couple in question loves each other, but they are low key about it and often gently jokingly teasing each other- but then they do all these nice things to support each other.

That's the kind of romance I like.

I will have to paint it someday, Hiccup and whatever, but it will be more like this than lovey dovey.

I agree on the injuries. The story even mentioned that the injuries don't come over onto this plane.

I think, myself, when Hiccup finds out about it (if she is Gudrid), he'll understand totally. He's grown up a lot on this trip and he'll probably see her with a whole different respect and compassion than before. They'll probably be very good friends and leaders for their community in a bittersweet sort of way- provided Hiccup stays in Berk. Who knows- maybe he'll spend his days with Toothless wandering the world and learning/aiding/teaching.

love is just...eh

Don't have much of an opinionon it.

Hiccup will definetely mature alot in this story and there's no doubt that he'll get a lot more street smart and wise. But I don't hink he'll stay in Berk, he's seen too much of the world, and he knows there's a lot more to see. For him to stay in one place sounds too boring and tamed for him. He needs adventure.

Yes, I agree on that about Hiccup. Also, outliving those around you would mean you have less roots. Toothless would literally become all the home he needs. And, I can vouch for it that once you start traveling it's hard to give it up.

What you said reminds me of a quote from the Viking poem "Havamal"- sayings of the Wise One. It goes something like "Only the man who who far has traveled can claim to truly understand Man."

Unless, he has kids, only then would he settle down for a bit but then he would probably just take his kids with him. Staying one place is torture for someone like Hiccup who constantly needs something new to experiance, see, and learn.

Eeeeee!

Thank you so much! This is the best birthday gift I've gotten! I mean, my only other one has been strawberry shortcake so far, but after I do get my presents this will still be up at the top!

You spoil me so much

I love the way you do Hiccup's hair, though I'll probably say that every time you draw him. And you even made him look a bit tall and lanky-ish! You did great getting the body poses right. That's probably why I've avoided drawing this scene. The best I can do is the classic 'you gunna get raeped' face or morning after moment, but never any action.

Good thing Gudrid is technically not an OC, or I would have died a little inside from writing an OC/charac moment.

I love the playlist you made up for drawing it too. I haven't even heard all of them, so I'll have to get to it. I was listening to the Balcony Scene music from Romeo and Juliet for Grudrid moments.

And now I'm off for my birthday dinner in good spirits! Thanks again soooo much!

I like spoiling you, you give me a really good story to read, I give you pretty pictures of said story.

I figured that he would still be a bit lanky but now taller than Gudrid and his arms are now more muscular. I looked at different kissing references to see how to draw this.

Is Gudrid the Elder? If she is... that's kind of creepy.

I like to listen to music when I draw because it helps to set the mood for what I'm drawing. That picture I made for you last time was done while listening to rock and punk. Nothing like a little Simple Plan and Green Day to get the blood pumping and the creativity flowing.

Have fun at your birthday dinner. Hope your friends/family take you some place nice.

Oh they did; I got Indian food and lots of wine. My stomach is rather upset with me, but it was worth it.

Hiccup was always technically taller than Gudrid, right from when he first met her, if only by a little. She's a bit on the short side. But now he's definitely taller than her.

Remember when I said the granddaughter was the crazy lookin' little girl the Elder grabbed during the chained-boated-Toothless scene? Didn't invent her!
But I'm still not admitting to who she is

And I listen to music when I write! It is a great mood setter and can sometimes spawn scenes that I hadn't originally anticipated. Though most of the music I listen to don't have words. A lot of immediate music and soundtracks fill up my ipod.

I hope to continued to entertain you with my story if it means pictures with beautiful, beautiful hair

Never tried Indian food is it good? As for the wine... :ew: all alcohol tastes gross. Yes, I'm underage but most kids my age have already tried alcohol so yeah...

You'll eventually reveal her... right?

Music is great for getting thoughts and ideas to come into the brain because certain lyrics or melodies evokes certain thoughts. Soundtracks are great for drawing, writing, or studying. I have a lot of the HTTD soundtrack on my ipod as well

I hope you continue as well, when is the next chapter going to be up? I really want to know what's happening with everyone, especially Camicazi, she hasn't been in the story for quite some time now.

Indian food is awesome. Though I am a girl who loves spicy stuff.
Wine was one of the first alcohols I really got a taste for. And that was out of necessity, seeing as I earned an 18th birthday trip to Paris, where I spent a week trying to keep up with a horde of 40+ year olds and their drinking habits (I learned so much about my parents). By the end I was a red wino.

Of course I'll reveal her! Hiccup will have to learn, after all

Hopefully I'll have the next chapter up sometime after the weekend. We'll see how much I'll get done tomorrow, since Sunday is usually my best day for writing.

I'm not much for spicy foods. I have a very low spice tolerance. Wine, chapagne, beer it's all the same to me, gross and tasting like something died in the bottle

So sometime after the weekend? YAY! I can't wait to read it!
