(And pray that you screen resolution is high enough ^^)

This started out as a quickpainting, but I kinda got lost along the way ... it's still pretty rough, though, and the hint of a background's just there cause I didn't want to leave it completely black ... If you wonder why his face is that brightly lit and the rest of him is dark, I dunno ... maybe he's looking into a lamp or something ^^ And since he's a Myrddraal, his cloak is as dark as the night anyways, so whatever ^^

To those of you who don't know what a Myrddraal is, you should REALLY look into the Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan (may he rest in Peace).

I don't really know how I got the idea of blood coming out of his mouth, but I thought it'd look kinda cool, so ... meh.
And looking at it now, some days later, I think my interpretation of a Myrddraal is actually a weird mix between a Stargate Atlantis Wraith and the Mouth of Sauron from the 3rd LotR movie .... xD

You mean the ones that make the fades' weapons?
Yeah, I think they were made of stone. Been a while since I read that particular part though, so I'm not sure.
I totally have to do a complete re-read before A Memory Of Light ...
just gotta finish all of Brandon's books first ... o.O

yeah they made me think of a stone golem the forgers can't go to far from shayol ghul or they turn to dust. I Always wanted to see some art done of them.

Great work!!!! By far one of the most amazing things I've ever seen!!!! This is very close to how I picture a myrddraal!! Although there are a few minor details i have a problem with. 1) Myrddraal dont smile. They just don't.
2) As was stated before Myrddraals don't drink blood.
I'm not criticising the art work. Just its authenticity in correlation with the series. It seems to me that this would be a more accurate representation of Shaidar Haran. Who is not, by every description given, a myddraal except for the fact he looks like one. again as i stated in opening this is truly amazing!!! Please don't be offended

I know that they don't smile (maybe he's wounded, it's a snarl and his own blood? xD Gah I don't know ... ^^)

Great art piece It does indeed instil a sense of fear from looking at your Myrddraal, especially with the added touch of veins/capillaries visible on its face, and the blood from its mouth

I am also glad that you have drawn a Myrddraal that does not remind me of a Nazgul from the Lord of the Rings; I see too many Nazgul-looking Myrddraals from various artworks

Yeah, I've seen pretty many ringwraith-like Fades, too, and I just had to do it differently, 'cause honestly, apart from the fact that both wear black they have pretty much nothing at all in common ... ^^

my face was waaay too close to the screen when this one came up...scared the wits out of me! I really like that the background is so blurry, it helps keep the focus on the superbly detailed (and frightening) face.
I also applaud you for pulling off the eyeless-ness and the melting into the shadows so well.

I could totally imagine a Fade with blood running down its face, either from being dealt a blow or perhaps by biting someone in a fight. They fight dirty like that you know hehe

Anyway, thanks a lot ^^ (and it's good to hear that my artwork manages to scare people, that means a lot ^^)

I'm actually reworking this one, though ... making the skin a little smoother and such... plus, I want to add SOME more background, although you're right, the blur's quite good ... there won't be much light going on back there, but I'm thinking a little more detail and some buildings/trees ...

The blood was kind of an experiment, it just fit with the theme (although I don't think that it's canon, I've never read about fades drinking blood ... that'd fit in with the gholam ... )
