Description

Previously:

The climb up the mountain was not an easy one with the snow getting deeper and deeper. Bartgeier sure proved his surefootedness on the way up, showing very clearly where his origin was. The big stallion had integrated very well into the small herd that gathered around his human. The other two stallions took his presence without any bigger trouble. A little bit of bickering, of seeing who would take which spot, but all in all it was peaceful. At times it even seemed they enjoyed to share the responsibility. Yet, Danubius couldn't help to catch up and be shoulder to shoulder at times to check in on his human.
Sándor was visibly distracted, his gaze hanging on the surrounding areas. His mind was heavily burdened by thoughts, mainly about his own roots. When looking at Bartgeier this became even more present. He seemed to be such a proud representative of his roots, the traits connected to them, etc. His latest talks with his cousin Vidar came to mind, which also focused on the same topic. Of what it even meant to have roots, to honor those, but also to respect freedom, which was equally as important to them.
Looking into the sky he tried to make out the shape of his falcon companion, who left a while ago for a flight. He huffed, his breath turning to steam in the cold evening air. Sándor picked up a caw, which made him look over to the falcon's crow companion. The dark feathered bird nestled into the furs on Danubius' back, attentively looking to the sky but not seeming to be... worried? He so wished he had the same kind of trust and confidence.
Catching his steamy breath out of the corners of his eyes, he found himself to be a bit startled when he noticed that there was more to it. A wave of fog was rolling into the area, covering the whole valley and threatening to engulf the mountainrange itself. Was this.. a sign?
He looked at his little group, all of them sticking together without any ties, any force, all in their free will and in trust they could rely on each other. All of them...
Sándor looked back to the sky, catching the dark shape of his falcon breaking through the clouds and hovering nearby, before taking its human companions outstretched arm as landing spot to return safely to its family.

It would be fine, as long as they stayed together...

Next: At Nightfall

And off they go for some prep work together. Still technically a glimpse into the past until the images catch up with the current timeline, but that's fine.
