Personals

Occupation: Photographer! (Sort of??) Being the opportunist he is, Kelly sells pictures of himself posing in Ninetales form to websites and magazines that specialize in pokemon related topics via the internet. Occasionally, he may ask the other amies for pictures of them in their pokemon forms as well. If a job requests a specific mon and he sees you around, he'll give you a cut of the profits if you help him out!

Town of Residence: Amie Isle

Personality: Easy going - Flirtatious - Whimsical - Sympathetic - Sentimental - Opportunistic <-(though typically not maliciously)

This guy actually likes to believe he's charming. Kelly ain't the nimble, ball of energy he once was in his youth but, carries himself with an easy humor and chill demeanor. Hes quick to compliment and enjoys displaying casual forms of affection with friends and strangers alike. He tries to remain unassuming when it comes to first impressions of people, though thats not to say hes naive or easy swayed. Kelly is not the type to allow his past to define him and takes the good with the bad to the best of his abilities, but tends to have more protective views when it comes to those close to him. He is loyal to a fault and doesn't usually make promises, but when he does, he keeps them.

He has a juvenile sense of humor at times and enjoys healthy competition. His favorite pass times are telling, or listening, to stories of  adventure. Sometimes even disguising a story of his own under the veil of a fairytale to amuse younger pokemon.  Hes happy to expand his friend circle or lend an ear to someone grieving and tries to keep a welcoming aura about him. He has no shame when it comes to PDA and light heartedly asks for dates with anyone hes grown even a bit fond of. He tends to speak a lot in body language, he may invade your personal space with a sudden hand on the shoulder or greeting you with a hug and smooch, but he means no harm, just shoo him away.

History:

Once a wild Vulpix in the fields of Johto, Kelly wasn't too old when an ambitious trainer claimed him as his own. The boy was fresh out of his home town with just a few pokemon to his name and a dream to collect all the regional badges and become a league champion!
Without having much previous experiences with humans, and his human not having much experience with pokemon, they were basically a hot mess at the beginning of their journey. But that less than graceful start did come to an end. As cheesy as the kids dream was, Kelly developed a deep devotion to his trainer that only comes with time, perseverance and triumph. He became the guys go-to pokemon and star on the field, eventually earning the gift of evolution when his trainer presented him with a fire stone.

After years of traveling and hard work, they did indeed make it to the league. Despite their best efforts, they never became champions. Somehow, after so long, it didn't seem all that important though. The trainer considered himself lucky to have such a fulfilling journey and team, that was reward enough. So they went home. He didn't quit battling completely, but the trainer was now a grown man and decided to pursue a more stable life and start a family. Kelly and his team had become somewhat of local celebrities to the neighborhood, and the trainer would account old adventures of their travels and battles over a bonfire to the children aspiring to become trainers themselves. As time passed, he even told the stories to his own children. And when his eldest son came of age and he started to get the adventure itch himself, he decided to pass down Kelly to him as well.

This was the beginning of a very rough time for Kelly. The son felt entitled to the success and fame of his father, but was obsessed with the thought of going beyond where his old man failed and becoming a real champion himself! The kid was a newbie all the same though and his lack of experience was apparent. When his own newly captured pokemon fell short in battle, it was up to Kelly to pick up the slack. This wouldn't of been so much an issue for a league fighter except instead of training the weaker mons up, the son pressed forward and the number and power of opponents was steadily increasing. Eventually, it got to a point where Kelly was carrying the team solo, the other pokemon just couldn't keep up. And if that wasn't bad enough, the son had started becoming extremely temperamental when Kelly didn't deliver in battle.

After long days of hard travel, and sent into battle after battle with no real time to rest, Kelly knew he was wearing down. He'd developed a cloudiness in his right eye that seemed to go unnoticed by his trainer but definitely was affecting his ability to perform in battle, as it threw off his balance. All his new trainer seemed to see was the Ninetales wasn't doing what he wanted him to do, and that made him angry. He started not allowing Kelly to return to his pokeball and refused to let him eat. If Kelly was a real champion pokemon he should be able to power through all casual enemies like its nothing! At least, that's what the son thought, Kelly just must not be listening to him. He needed to see whose boss.

Kelly began to struggle with thoughts of running from his new master. He seemed to always decide to stay cause he remembered the love of his original trainer, and knew he was trusted with the son to watch over him. He couldn't continue on like this for much longer though and the day had to come where something needed to change. And it came. There was a particularly rough battle with a territorial Ryhorn, and Kelly was so fatigued he couldn't tell up from down. He was beaten. Badly. And his trainer was enraged at their retreat. He brought Kelly to the nearest pokemon center but did not heal him. Dumping his body around the back of the building while he called up his dad. Though Kelly was barely conscious, he heard a good amount of the call. He was yelling into the receiver, saying his Ninetales had gone senile and got itself half beat to death. The question came up if he was worth saving.

With his last bit of strength, Kelly made a dash. He didn't know which direction he was running or where but if he was gonna die, he decided it wasn't going to be under that kids foot, being told he wasnt worth a damn. He ran far, into a deep bush, forest-y area that he was sure would at least grant him some cover if anyone or thing came around, before his body finally gave out completely and he dropped. Panting hard and sore all over, he somehow managed to sleep and slept deeply for the first time in a long time.
---------------------------------------------------------

It was a new life for Kelly. He was wild once more but wiser than his days as Vulpix. He had traveled, he had battled, he'd learned the ways of civilians and trainers alike, if he wanted to avoid them, he easily could of. But what fun would that be? Though Kelly wasn't as spry or agile as he once was, he had fun messing with humans on a regular basis. He was too high level for any casual trainer to capture him and too quick for most traps people left out. He had found joy in the amount of leisure time he now had and traveled around the region at his own pace, finally finding some peace.

Goldenrod City changed everything for him again. While sneaking in an alley way, hoping for some scraps to be thrown out so he could get a meal, a newly hatched Cyndaquil stumbled into him instead. It was small, even for its breed and seemed to be abandoned. Without a second thought, Kelly took the Cyndaquil under his wing and named him, Vincent (Vinny for short).

Now Kelly was doing all the traveling and mischief he was causing before, but with a little friend.  They grew close fast, really, they were all they had in the world. They had fun play sparring, messing with humans in harmless ways and always moving around the region. Though when it became apparent to Kelly what a rare find a breed like Vinnys would be in the wild, he grew worried for his safety. Though Kelly had had a brilliant trusting trainer once upon a time, the later experience with humans made him cautious. Of course not everyone could be bad but what if Vinny wasn't so lucky?

It was this worry that drove a wedge between them. Vinny, as he got older, voiced his concerns that he felt he was stagnating strength wise as a result of Kellys protectiveness. The Ninetales could understand him wanting to seek a life of more independence, but unfortunately, it was a conversation they never got to have. The sudden appearance of an extremely determined hunter they encountered in the Ilex forest, forced the two to split up with the hopes of losing the guy and meeting up again later.

Kelly was concerned the trainer would single out Vinny and pursue him but- his sights were set on the Ninetales. Kelly made a valiant effort to escape but unfortunately, got caught on some shrubbery and took a tough tumble that ended up spraining his right hind leg. And then, he was captured.

---------------------------------------------------------

Everything happened so quick, he could only remember it in flashes. Kelly was released from his ball into a dark shack, the human standing over him. His arm drawn back and clutching a large knife. Kelly tried to escape but with his leg injury, the effort was futile. The arm came down. Five of his nine tails were chopped clean off and fell to the floor. There was pain for a moment but instinct took over.  He fought back, burning the hunter and shack to small smoldering ashes, indistinguishable from one another. From what he could tell, fur and pelt collecting had been the humans freakish hobby. But he was nothing now.

Kelly was alone again and now coming to realize, he was not in a familiar place. He wasn't sure how far they'd traveled at first but after limping around and managing to talk to some of the local pokemon, he realized he was in an entirely new region. The Santalune Forest in Kalos to be exact, which seemed to be the hunters return to spot where he dragged the pokemon he claimed as a prize and skinned them. As a sign of thanks for ridding them of the awful human, the forest pokemon helped nurse Kelly back to health. Using potions passing trainers had dropped and feeding him berries, they managed to bring back some of his strength. Though there wasn't too much they could do to ensure his leg healed properly and after a few weeks of rest, he ended up with a permanent limp.

With his body restored and his nerves collected, Kellys  focus became getting back home. His had a promise to keep to his Cyndaquil friend afterall, though he was skeptical if he'd still be waiting at the Ilex Forest after all this time. It wasn't as if hopping region to region would be so easy without a trainer though...so the forest pokemon let him in on a rumor. That there was a place beyond the Kalos sea, where pokemon lived in sanctuary with a device that could make them become humans. A piece of machinery called the Dittech.

So, with only that to go on, Kelly now had a goal.  A goal that led him to a resident of the Amie Isle, Nenny. The girl was visiting Kalos for reasons of her own when she came across the less than impressive Ninetales. She took him in and used her connections to offer Kelly a Dittech of his own and shelter in her home for as long as he needed it. It was...touching, being shown such kindness from generous strangers, passing or not, seemed to make so much of his journey feel, worth it.
Although he did intend to find his friend, Kelly decided this new place was the first thing that felt like home in a long time and was reluctant to let it go so quick. So he didn't. He decided to stay on the Isle, perhaps see if he could recover a bit of his eyesight or help his leg before he started his journeys again, and enjoy the good company while he had it.

Being previously acquainted with humans, it wasn't too hard for Kelly to blend into regular society. He was patient and observant of his new position in the world and quickly learned that the human world was fast evolving, and you either got with it or got left behind. It was only by chance he found a flyer in Kalos, advertising a need for 'dynamic and unique pokemon photographs' for a magazine being published in another region, and he got the idea to put his new form to use. He got in contact with the company via email, who were skeptical of Kellys claims he could provide pictures of a 'rare' and 'stunningly majestic' Ninetales for their cover. But sure enough, he delivered. (Sure to only get angles that disguise the fact that he was Ninetales...without Ninetails.) This one-time gag actually started to become a reoccurring thing for Kelly though. It wasn't a lot of pay but it was easy pay since he was just taking pictures of himself as a pokemon after all.

Relationships
Nenny- The sweet girl that found Kelly after all his misfortunes and showed him kindness. He lives with her now and cherishes her friendship greatly!

Vinny- His partner in crime. He sure misses him... (Kelly is unaware of his presence on the isle as of now)

Extras

+Because of Kellys Drought ability, all of his fire type moves are boosted and he doesn't have to wait for Solar Beam to charge (unless the weather is changed!!)

+Kelly walks with a slight limp in his right leg and is nearly blind in his right eye due to untreated cataracts. Hes practically blind without his glasses and he suffers from chronic pain in his joints.

+Dresses for comfort! His gloves are actually to help the arthritis hes developed in his wrists!

Rp- I prefer to rp over skype/discord or through the notes on dA. Lit is more my thing but I'm open to script as well! I usually like to start with headcanons to get an idea of how the characters interact!  \(;v ;
