Personality:
*Light-hearted and patient for the most part. Never been known as one to raise his voice or assert his opinion on anyone.
*Shinya has always had a 'never say no' attitude to most people so hes quite easy to manipulate. Thats not to say he has a weak will though, more like, he just doesn't expect people to approach him with bad intent.
*He gets into the zone when hes serious about cooking something and isn't easily pulled out of it. He shows the same level of focus when playing strategy games like chess. A funny contrast to his usual sleepy-eyed demeanor.
*Content with having little to work with or go to without for others. (taking advantage of this too often will make him weary when you come around)
*A serious studier most of the time since his entire attendance there relies on scholarships
*Thrives around other easy going people.

Bio:
Grew up only with his mother and grandma in a small, run-down apartment. With little money to spare, most things were shared between the 3 of them. Shinya never had toys so he just took up whatever his grandmas hobbies were. Sewing, cooking and checkers were big past times for him back in the day.
His grandmother was bed bound and relied on Shinya a lot to take care of her while his mother was away at work. It was a task he was more than happy to go about. She was a kind woman, passed down a lot of old knowledge to him, including old baking tricks she'd used in her younger days.
That is what initially got Shinya into cooking. He loved indulging his grandma when he tried out one of her recipes, having hot food ready for his mother when she came home from work and generally seeing peoples reaction when they bit into something good. Being from such a poor family, he'd learned to make due with the limited and low grade ingredients at hand and turn them into something worth serving.
Shinya is only at the academy though a scholarship since it is something he'd never be able to afford through normal means. As a result, studying takes top priority to him. He dreams of being a famous chef (or at least get a decent job) so he can take care of his family.

At lot of people take Shinya to be a punk at first glance, given his messy hair and unkept clothing. Really hes just absent minded when it comes to his appearance;;;
