Caroline, I like how you've painted the water fall, it looks very nice. Over all I like it much better without the sun and clouds. The clouds make for an overall dark painting, even though there is lots of colour everywhere else. I would like to see my eye being drawn more to the waterfall but it keeps being distracted by the sun and clouds.

Yes Marcel, it is true indeed that the enormous sky takes much of the attention in this painting, it takes the attention away from what was painted below.
When I started to edit the picture, I intended to crop most of the sky away (I mean leave just a small part above the trees)- but since I've painted this moon-sun so low, it was showing a half/third of this moon-sun & I thought it was then even more distracting. I've painted the moon too low (and a too large) to be able to crop it all out afterwards without making it a long narrow format...
That's why I've had to leave as much sky as possible, in order to avoid the moon-sun take over all the attention...
I think that lately, I've been painting more than enought of those sceneries with enormous skies which are taking all the attention away from what's happening below. It is my intention, for my next paintings, to keep the focus on the land & water parts & stay away from large sky effects.

Perhaps I should have edited this way instead: ...? But now it's too late to change my deviation file since Ive submitted already to many dA groups & people have fav it the way I first presented the painting...

Caroline the crop would have worked, but I'm glad you didn't do it. You did put the true image of your painting on DA. You wouldn't take the scissors out and cut the top of the painting off to crop it (at least I think you wouldn't...)
It is as it is and as with everything else, we don't always get it perfect.
I've started looking at some of my photos recently and thinking too that there is too much sky.
