The only animal I really dislike all that much for its popularity are foxes, and I barely talk about. More often, I'm talking about how much I adore bats and tapirs.

i agree. the amount of times i have been attacked for drawing wolves to get popular as they claim really annoy me. i don't draw them to be popular i draw them because i love them. but i also like felines a lot, tigers are my favorite animals but i prefer to draw wolves as i don't really get feline anatomy.
if i may ask what exactly is this whole popular thing with wolves? i only heard of it after this idiot said i only draw wolves to be popular.

Truthfully, i really don't know.
i guess because there have been cases of people only drawing them just to get more pageviews and junk and that's somewhat understandable i guess (i still don't know why people make such a huge deal of it.)
but in my honest opinion, wolves are NOWHERE NEAR as popular as a bunch of people want them to be.
maybe on this one tiny little site, yes. but fullblown worldwide "overrated"?

i know. it is so hard to come by a wolf plushie in shops, in fact i have only seen them a few times in shops, i have to go online just to find one near enough all the time. it is the same with books. to me it seems bears are the most overrated, i mean every single plushie shop you go to there is a bear.

You really get it to the point Akemi! On the internet, it really annoys me how people rant about wolves being "overrated" just because of SOME uneducated wolf fans (after all you can find uneducated or stupid fans in EVERY fandom- like for example rabbit fans who keep their pets alone in a tiny cage because they don´t know that rabbits need partners and lots of space to run- and hey, if people don´t like wolves, why do they even look at them?) But in real life, I´ve been called a "weirdo" for my love of wolves and my habit of collecting wolf-themed things because it´s so unusual.... Here where I live, it´s actually pretty HARD to get things with wolf motives, and even if you find some, they´re not even beautiful - like those posters with kitschy, sparkly, moon-howling wolves instead of really beautiful photos of them! Same thing with T-Shirts- the main part of my wolf collection consists of T-Shirts, and the really cool ones are also hard to find if you don´t know where to look for them! I mostly buy the ones from The Mountain, because, besides from the few moon-howlers, they have really wonderful and naturalistic wolf motives and are produced ethically correct (only with organic materials from fair trade) I also like those tie dye colors they have.... But here in my town, there´s only ONE store that sells The Mountain products, and even this store has just a tiny selection of them!
About the plushies, you´re right again! Most plushies labeled as "wolves" actually look more like huskies or German Shepherd dogs... But there are also some brands that produce really wolf-like wolf plushies, like Wild Republic, Leosco, Playkids or Kosen (I have two Wild Republic and one Leosco wolf)

I agree, bashing only just annoys the fans of the other animal and makes them turn against you. That's why I draw pictures of Golden Lion Tamarins and Gorillas in my art class, to get others to notice that monkeys can be just as pretty as any canine or feline. The same could be said for anything overrated really. For example, people should go draw some Disney fanart if they hate Japanese cartoons so much. (I say cartoons because lets be honest with ourselves, anime=cartoons).
Because of people like this it's gotten to the point where whenever I look at a fox, instead of thinking foxes are beautiful I just think "Oh, it's that snobby guy who thinks he's so much more clever and intelligent than a wolf."

you took the words right out of my mouth. that's Exactly what i think when i see things like that.
as much as i love cats, horses, hyenas and other canines (these are the animals most affected by this kind of idiocy)
whenever i see these animals i can't help but think of the idiots that portray them as the assholes of the animal kingdom instead of the beautiful creatures mother nature intended them to be.
