Description I was bored, and in a Trekkie mood. So I did this.
I've heard that Voyager was often critiqued for its extreme amount of technobabble, but, being my first experience with Star Trek, I was actually surprised at the extreme LACK of technobabble in Next Generation. Not that I mind. I never have any idea what they're talking about anyway. (I know, I'm a lousy science officer. XD)
I doubt Picard's ever told the Space-Witch to shut up, but I'm sure he's always thinking it. And I agree.
I know the Voyager technobabble makes no sense. It wasn't supposed to. I found this wonderful generator online that I used to come up with it all. [link]
Star Trek is (c) to Paramount and Roddenberry's living relatives.

Ha, I liked it.

Though I would of thought that Picard would say something along the lines of, "I thought I told you to fix it. Not cry over the ship's intercom."

Personally, I liked the techobabble in Voyager. I actually, and this is how sad my mind works, understood what they said and what they intended to do. Its really weird. Something tells me I come from that time, but was send here to this time unknowingly. XD

"Space-Witch" XD Poor Deanna Troi! At least Nyota Uhura's role was delegated to simply "hailing frequencies open, Captain", which, while still not helping feminism any, is less annoying to some people.

Janeway's technobabble was probably cause she used to be a science officer. I'm pretty sure Picard has always been a command officer.
I love both series (though TNG a little more) and this was pretty funny =]

I do not remember that episode (which means I need to go on a TNG marathon)
so I guess Janeway was just a bigger geek

No, Picard was a science officer at first (rememebr the episode Tapestry)

I'm pretty sure Picard was always on the command track, as he references his old piloting skills several times throughout the series. In the episode Tapestry, Q let Picard change his past, resulting in him chosing the science track, playing it safe instead of ambitiously working his way up the ranks. In the end, (spoilers) Picard asked Q for his old past back, keeping history the way it was and Picard on his way to becoming the captain we all know and love.

He started as a science officer: science officers can also become captains. It's just that he didn't play it safe, and that's what made him climb the ranks

I read a book called The Trekkers' Guide to Voyager, and in it there was a list called, "50 reasons why Janeway is better than Picard". RIOT!!! there was also a list of the technobabble from the first season ALONE. oooh, what a LOOOOOOOOOOONG list. even being such a big Star Trek fan, I couldn't read the whole list!

This is really funny! Good job! I LOVED Voyager. I thought all the different ST series were good in their own way.
My only complaint is that no one would address their captain by calling her Miss. It's disrespectful.

I too find TNG a bit slow. VOY was the first Star Trek I saw so maybe thats why I like it. But I feel VOY has deeper characthers and a greater story arc. But still, Picard for President.

iamtrinity [2009-05-01 03:42:39 +0000 UTC]

TNG wasn't about trying to look smart by saying a whole bunch of crap that no one else can understand. It was about diplomacy, and when that didn't work...layeth the smacketh down on some candy ass bitchez. The line must be drawn here!

I understood all of Next Gen's technobabble.

I understood NONE of Voyagers therefore their science is apparently FAKE O__o!

not that I mind, I love all startrek! It just bugged me when got in the way of character development. That everything that went wrong wasnt about a plot O__O just random alien #254 trying to kill them for breaking thier laws or distortion field #809 burns all living tissue and they cant go around it.

I forget the name of the episode, but on Next Gen, theres this one episode where the ship is going through a sweep of energy that will KILL anything living that gets in the way. Picard goes back to get his saddle (All true riders have there own saddle) and finds that there are thieves on board stealing anti matter.

One of these thieves, while not Tuvok from Voyager, is the SAME actor, and is also a vulcan in this setting too. >D Look for him!

hilarious!! I ersonally adore Voyager and only ever watch TNG if it includes a Q....(Voyager has a pathetic 3 episodes with Q ) but this is exactly how I felt!! I never pay attention tot he babble, but it makes everything more authentic to me. Plus when I watch TNG, the plot is SO SLOW and OPAQUE and I don't like it! But the lucid characters of VOY are awesoema nd KICKASS and ALWAYS HAVE COMPLICATED RELATIONSHIPS (Blood Fever, Favorite Son, etc.)
