I have a question and would be so happy if you could answer.
Alright! Where do you happenΒ buy your BJD dolls? I would like to make one of an OC I made a while back and would love some tips and advice, seeing how I am just starting off.
I would be extremely excited and happy if you could! ^^Β

^v^ Hello! Aww, and its super nice to see more and more people become interested in getting bjds! I'm happy to help as much as I can~ ^w^
The first thing that you should know if you are new to the hobby is that there are many many different companies or "brands" of dolls, each with their own unique aesthetic and price points. For example, there are dolls that have a very realistic look to them, there are some that look just like anime, and then the kind that I like most which are somewhere in between. I personally have dolls from lots of different companies; Soom, Fairyland, Alchemic Labo to name a few. Really, there isn't quite one "place" in particular that I get all of my dolls from because some are different "brands". Unlike, say, figurines for example, which may come from different manufacturers but are sold in the same store, bjds are not usually like that. Each company usually has its owns website, and there are far too many to just list here!
I mention all this because in this hobby its really REALLY important to not fall in love with the first pretty doll you see, and instead take a look at many of the different companies, sizes, aesthetics, posing ability, and price points of dolls to find the ones that you truly like best or that best fit the characters you have in mind.
These are some of my personal favorite companies which I highly recommend!
Luts: eluts.com/index.php
Soom: dollsoom.com/eng/gem.html
Crobidoll: crobidolls.com/index.php
Bluefairy: bluefairyint.com/index.php
Fairyland: dollfairyland.com/index.php
But of course, there are way way more that that! This is an amazingly helpful website that lists all of the different doll companies (and authorized distributors of said companies for other countries), which I highly recommend browsing through all of them eventually even though it may seem a bit overwhelming to do so right now. bjdcollectasy.com/companies-otβ¦
Also, I'm not sure of how much you know of bjds as a whole, but it is very VERY important to do your research and learn as much about their care and construction before committing to buy any. These are expensive dolls and it would be heartbreaking to spend that much money on one only to damage it from a lack of knowledge. This is a helpful little overview of a lot of the basics to bjds and explains a lot of things that beginners often wonder about. Some or most of it you might already know, but just in case! bjd-wtf.livejournal.com/309.htβ¦
Also a word of warning, you many see dolls made by certain companies listed on places like Ebay or Taobao for very very cheap. Please please please do not be suckered in by their lower prices as if the price is drastically different than it is on the official company site, the doll is most likely a counterfeit "recast" which is illegal for one and is also supporting art theft. I know this hobby is very expensive and the idea of paying less for basically the same thing is tempting, but please know that bjds are all handmade and sculpted by individual artists who run very small companies of sometimes less than 10 employees. They rightfully deserve money for their hard work and creativity rather than giving that money to leeches who steal other people's art to cheaply mass produce and profit from. So please do not purchase a bjd that is not from an official company site/distributor listed on the list of companies link if you do not know how to spot a counterfeit!
;3; Anyways, sorry for the super long comment, you might already know a lot of that or it might seem very overwhelming, but it is super important to be thorough just in case as bjds are rather complex and are quite the investment.
TwT But i do hope that helped, at least somewhat~ <3

>//u//> Ohhhh so many congrats to you on getting a BJD!!
TvT I use Schmincke soft chalk pastels, acrylic paint, Faber Castell watercolor pencils, Volks shine pearl powder, Tamiya Gloss, and eyelashes from Crobidoll. Oh, and of course MSC (Mr. Super Clear) sealant, but that is a given i'm sure xD
>u> Daw, and its no problem, i'm glad I can help!~

I can feel your excitement! Although BJDs aren't actual humans, and your OC's aren't real, it's kind of like having a real life baby, kind of like with the care and stuff, you know? Lol, I want to get one . I'd love to have a physical representation of an OC of mine. Not to mention they're so ethereal like
