Description Massive commentary coming through!

This is the first of a two part prologue to my Mario fan game idea from long ago, reborn a comic series. Aside from the comic starring Adrik, this is my most thoroughly thought out comic idea, maybe even moreso than DSI because I know how this is going to end. As the story continues, you may be able to pick up on it being structured like a Mario game.

If you haven't played Super Paper Mario through to the end, all of this might be a bit confusing. I'm going to try and make things clear here and farther into the comic so that people will be able to enjoy it regardless of what Mario games they've played. However, be advised that if you haven't played Super Paper Mario, and to a lesser extent the other games in the Mario RPG series (including Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars, Paper Mario, The Thousand Year Door, Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga, and Bowser's Inside Story) and you still intend to, this comic will contain spoilers for you.

For those who haven't played Super Paper Mario, don't intend to, and are not worried about spoilers, let me explain. In the game there are alternate dimensions (referred to simply as worlds) with the Mushroom Kingdom being just one of many. Mario is recruited by Tippi, known later by her real name Timpani, who is a Pixl, a magical, fairy-like creature created by the Tribe of Ancients (the ancestors of Merlon, Merluvlee, Merlee, etc.) thousands of years ago to aid themselves in every day tasks. Timpani, however, was originally a human girl who Merlon found dying. He was able to save her with the magic of his ancestors and transform her into Tippi, a Pixl resembling a butterfly. Mario and Tippi together went on a journey to save all worlds from the void, a world ending vortex formed by the Chaos Heart, a mystical object created by the evil Count Bleck when he forced a wedding ceremony between Bowser and Princess Peach. Count Bleck, once known as Lord Blumiere, was under the influence of a book called the Dark Prognosticus which he had called upon in his despair of being separated from the woman he loved, Timpani. Blumiere and Timpani had fallen for each other some time ago, but theirs was a forbidden love as she was human and he was of the Tribe of Darkness, a division of the Tribe of Ancients forbidden to have contact with outsiders. Without Timpani, nothing mattered to Blumiere and he intended to destroy all worlds, and himself, and leave them in ruin. In the end, when Mario, Peach, Bowser, and Luigi had defeated Count Bleck, Tippi managed to make him repent of his evil ways, but it was too late for that. Dimentio, the mysterious minion of Count Bleck, had planned to betray the Count from the beginning, destroy all worlds, and create a dimension where he alone would rule. The only force strong enough to stop Dimentio was the Pure Hearts, but they had been drained of their energy in the battle with Count Bleck. Count Bleck's other minions, Mimi, O'Chunks, and Nastasia, remained loyal to the Count and their love for him restored the Pure Hearts, but it would take much more to stop Dimentio and the Chaos Heart. So Blumiere and Timpani finally vowed their love to each other, and their union dissolved the void and the Chaos Heart, but they disappeared. After the credits of Super Paper Mario roll, however, they are seen in an area much like the setting of this comic, together again and Timpani's human form restored. This comic picks up where the story left off there, as the Dark Prognosticus and another shadowy creature also reappear.

Timpani's human form is never really shown, all I had to go on was a small silhouette that vaguely resembles Princess Peach. I've seen many people on DA draw their own interpretations of her, and well, this is mine. I agree with the idea I've seen floating around (heh) of her having a hair band in the shape of Tippi the Pixl because the image of her looks like she's wearing something like that or a crown (and she's not royalty, so that wouldn't make sense). Her outfit should be somewhat colorful like Tippi, but I also thought it'd be cool if it somewhat resembles Blumiere's clothing.

As for Blumiere himself, I've seen no indication of why his form would have changed after they were transported ... wherever. My Blumiere is a little bit of a mixture of his good self and Count Bleck. Some things he apparently picked up as Count Bleck, like talking in third person, are still occasionally present. He drifts back and forth, but any evil thought is far from his mind as his love for Timpani keeps it pure.

I won't say anything about the shadowy, floaty creature there, but I imagine it's pretty obvious to most SPM fans who he is. If it's difficult to understand, he sets the Dark Prognosticus' pages ablaze with a blast of magic after the book opens up by itself.

Enter the villain of my Super Mario Kingdom story. He actually turned out a bit creepier than I meant for him to. Maybe the black and red fire was too much?

Part 2 of the prologue will see the duel of Count Blumiere and ... this weird Ancient sorcerer guy. Then the setting will go to the Mushroom Kingdom where it'll start feeling like a Mario comic for reals.

You're welcome.

I hope you do! I honestly find it intriguing! I love the style of art it's in, so CUTE. I also like the concept, and I think that you got the personalities down STRAIGHT. I can imagine this happening. Yup, I really can.

Oooohh, is Mario gonna be involved? I know that the count will probably be the hero or something in this one, but is Mario at least gonna tag along or something? I'm really curious!

Thanks! Well, the entire story is already thought out. I just ran into some artistic roadblocks. There were a lot of things I wanted to do that ended up being pretty hard at the time. Of course, that was well over 3 years ago. Lol I've gotten better, though now I'm more focused on my original characters, but this is definitely one fan project I would like to finish one day.

As I said in the description, it started out as a fan game idea I would've liked to make in GameMaker or Stencyl but became really big. I think of it as my tribute to all things Mario. The prologue starts out with Count Blumiere and Lady Timpani, and they would remain important characters, but the focus would mostly be on Mario and his friends as they travel the world to save the Mushroom Kingdom. It's called Super Mario Kingdom because each chapter would take place in a different "kingdom" kinda like Super Mario Bros. 3. They'd go to Princess Daisy's Sarasaland from Super Mario Land, the BeanBean Kingdom from Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga, DK Island from Donkey Kong Country, Nimbus Land from Super Mario RPG, Diamond City from the WarioWare series, and Yoshi's Island. They'd even sail the seven seas and go to outer space before finally taking the fight to Bowser in Dark Land, though as you can tell in the prologue he's not the true villain. So it's pretty much as many things from the Mario universe as I could possibly fit into one story. Lol Although there's also some original ideas in it as well.

I'm finishing up my art school program and then I'm planning on starting my original comic, Elements of Midburg, this year but once I get back in the comic-making groove I'd like to come back to this. It just might be a while, but I appreciate your interest in it.

I see! That's GREAT. I'm making this fan-comic series thing too! But it's a little bit like a fanfic, graphic novel thingy... It's a fan thing for a book series called Amulet. I'm also throwing in a LOZ character--my favorite one--Zelda! ^_^

AHHH, right. I rather like the prologue! But I LOVE the idea of so many places they could be! And involving DAISY too! She doesn't get allot of attention... Hey, what about Rosalina's land in the stars? Maybe you could involve that--if you really wanted to.

Oh, ART SCHOOL. Cool. I am just teaching myself, I suppose... Both my parents are artists though, so I learn allot from them too!

Okay then! I can wait.

I only beat Mario RPG: L7S and the first Paper Mario, so I'd be totally lost here without your explanation. But I shall watch and read with interest!
