The wind is never alone. Even when she thinks she is.
BUT HOLD YOUR HORSES. Link is at the end, but you will need a password ('hidden' somewhere below) to access the story. Why?
Because there's a few things I feel are necessary to understand before you dive in.
Of Stardust and Splinters' inception happened before season 2 of FiM aired, hence the lack of "alternate universe" tag; although it is arguably AU, I do not think of it as such. I have made room for things from S2 and beyond where appropriate, such as changelings and Hearth's Warming, but I have had neither room nor a need to include many significant plot elements (like Shining Armor, Cadance, or Twilight's promotion). On a related note, the mane six are entirely absent, so you can stop holding your breath.
Of Stardust and Splinters is incomplete. I am making the first arc publically available to gauge interest and give people an idea of what I've been working on. The remaining arcs are not yet written, so if you're someone who likes being able to read something from start to finish in one go, you may want to wait. (Ahem; if I hadn't played this game first, Undertale would probably be my favorite game of all time.) Each arc will be written to completion before it is released.
As the overall story is incomplete, I may or may not make changes to arc 1 after release. I have written it with this in mind, and do not foresee any reason to change it beyond spelling/grammar corrections, but if, for some reason, I have to, changes to arc 1 will be kept in a publically available changelog in order to make keeping track of and browsing changes easier. [Rated Teen for mild language and occasional violence.]

You're still here? Well, here's the blurb for it, I guess. Don't bother looking for the password in here, it's up there somewhere.
There comes a time when the toughest of stone turns to dust in the wind.
She’s had it rough. She turned an accident into a career that ended up birthing legends around and about her—some so terrifying they’re almost nightmares on their own. And yet hardly anyone knows her real name, or what she even looks like. Okay, yeah, the whole blue-pegasus thing is...a thing, and she takes advantage of that, but her job helps her relax. I know that sounds crazy, but it does. It’s in her blood.
And I love her. She’s given up everything for me. But she didn’t have to. She’s made mistakes, sure. Everyone does. But she’s got it in her head that her mistakes somehow make her less...worthwhile. Like she’s supposed to sacrifice something—something big, a piece of herself—for every mistake she makes. And she has, piece by piece, except for one thing. A part of her she can’t shed, a part she does her best to pretend she doesn’t have and forget she ever loved—a part she’ll let die if I do nothing.|
She’s just been through so much. A volcanic eruption, a dirty thunderstorm, a descent into madness, eight F4+ tornadoes and probably a couple wildfires she’s not telling me about, and she’s still standing. That’s what’s killing me.
She’s a pegasus.
And she’s still.
Standing.
You’re going to fly again, I promise you.
You’re going to fly again if it kills me.
