Description

One of the three Aegises of Xenoblade Chronicles 2

As I mentioned in my description with Morag and Brighid Xenoblade Chronicles 2 despite the amount of fan service there was it was a fantastic game. The story, the open world, the soundtrack, and the character development (except for Dromarch who other than being Nia’s Blade was just there) were what made this game such a gem and the hours put into it were never wasted. While some of the Blades you encounter or summoned had great character development including the minor ones like Wulfric, Praxis, Kasandra, Agate, Herald, and Crossette just to name a few who we’ll be talking about is the main girl Pyra. While some of the voice acting weren’t the best Skye Bennett did a phenomenal job on both Pyra and Mythra, these two while sharing the same body have totally different personalities and how she switches between the two is amazing. Out of the two however, Mythra even though she is one of the best Blades in the game her personality annoyed me and unfortunately fanservice sells… A LOT. Despite Pyra’s revealing design, she’s so pure and has to be one of the best characters in the game. She is the first Blade Rex acquires in the game and has the elemental power of fire, plus her flame sword is badass. While Mythra is much stronger when you unlock her, Pyra is better as a character (opinion). She is very caring about her friends and gives off this trusting and motherly vibe while also being a badass in combat, especially during that fight scene against Malos in the beginning of the game after she reawakens. Throughout the game you learn that Pyra is haunted by self-doubt and thinks she’s only burdening Rex because of her role as the Aegis. Rex never really got my attention, while Pyra has shown romantic interest in him Rex to me was just another bland, dense shonen protagonist. Rex did have an admirable dream though, in Xenoblade Chronicles 2 people lived on these continent sized creatures called Titans and in the beginning of the game you learn that not only were natural resources dying on certain Titans but the Titans in general were dying. Due to this issue problems began to surface and the stability between nations was become unstable. Instead of picking a side Rex wanted to find the legendary land called Elysium where everyone could live together in peace. It was because of Pyra Rex was given this opportunity to go on this adventure while learning life lessons, how to be a Driver, and meeting wonderful people and their Blades. She is a strong leading female character and she continues to grow as a character from the moment you first meet her to all the way to the end of the game. She is a caring, kind, supportive, and a carefree person and that’s why Pyra is my favorite.
