I really love how you have did the illustration. I like the concept of using the shadow of the fairy!  This might just be one of my favorite piece you've done.

Thank you very much for your comment, dear! Though the whole concept is not mine but comes from an artisan called Nichola Battilana

Have you watched this short animation? www.youtube.com/watch?v=fzQ6gR…

The title is "Shelter" as well XD

By the way love the artwork. I imagine it was a Tinker Bell waiting for Peter Pan saving her from the pirate's jar XD

Yup, that could be an interesting interpretation

I'm no longer interested in anime stuff so I haven't seen this video before, but I must admit I'm in awe of both the storytelling and the quality of the animation! Thank you for sharing the link

It's amazing. I mean there is no real face there. Only a silhouette, yet we still find it beautiful

You're welcome The short animation is hype on social media

Have you watched Kimi no Na Wa? (Your Name). It's Makoto Shinkai's. It's a long animation though. But the story is unique and the animation is beautiful too

I've never seen/heard of these, but man it's a neat concept!
Onto the main comment..

This is AWESOME! The lighting is AMAZING! It's such a soft, ethereal glowing light. And the bits of fairy dust coming up from the bottle, being further illuminated by the glow from within the jar is such a nice detail! I also really like the berry and leaves ornament on the jar. (Are those holly berries?)

All that being said, the Faerie inside, just, so much emotion there! From the tilt of the head, to the way she holds her hands, to even the positioning of the wings. Makes it more of a sad/sweet pic I think. I didn't even register the eyes as eyes until I read your "artistic struggle" again. The eyes DO add more depth to the sad side of the piece. But I originally wondered if it was some kind of a berried garland related to the ornament with a darkened background. This is really really well done piece! I don't understand that you said it isn't "refined". Must be my ignorance and something I'm lacking, but I don't see how this isn't refined. It's sooooo good! ^_^

Wow many thanks for the awesome comment!

I honestly don't know if those berries can come from a holly bush ^^ Red berries appear very frequently in all kinds of autumnal table ornaments in Europe, yet I never wondered what kind of tree they could come from. Maybe holly like you said, or elder.

I said this isn't refined because I did not work on what's outside the jar (table + blank space): I should've put some details in, or at least some brushstrokes to give it a polished look, but gave up: that's why I don't see the picture as refined or finished But you know, I've been working on something very detailed lately, so all my more simpler work looks not detailed enough to me
And I noticed I forgot to paint the reflection of the fairy on the table, silly me! x)

You're welcome!

There is a tree at a McDonald's near me, where it has red decorative fruit. They look bright red, like berries. I doubt they're safe to eat. lol But I have no idea what KIND they are. lol

That's neat! I don't usually see autumnal ornaments. I'm not really into buying crafts, but if I see something that catches my eye, I do like to look at them. Elder berries? I've heard of them, but never seen 'em.

AH! I understand! Sure, if you're used to working on pieces as detailed as you have uploaded, I guess I can see it. But someone I used to know once said that sometimes to "keep it simple" is best. It looks fine to me. As for what you mentioned about the reflection. I can see it, but since she's emitting the light, she wouldn't cause much of a shadow in the glow, right? I mean, most light bulbs don't have shadows when they're on, right? I dunno, you've got more experience and stuff than I've got. But "refined" or not, this is a really nice piece. ^_^

Oh, you've been working on something very detailed? If you plan on uploading it, I'll look forward to seeing it!
