Scots Guardsman Steam Locomotive at York

Recently I was visiting York, northern England, and by chance this steam locomotive was waiting to take a charter train to the coast. It is the Scots Guardsman, built in Glasgow in 1927 and rebuilt twenty years later.

The haze from the smoke and steam can be seen following the curve of the station roof, giving some idea of what this busy station would have been like in the days before electrification.
