Naruto,

My hurt has aged with me.

I’ve endured this long, but I fear the worst is yet to come. My heart has retreated into my chest and withered, but even now—tattered and slow as it has become—it still keens out quietly for you, for those shadows of arms that once held me in this dim emptiness, long ago filled with thoughts of you.

I used to hope the emptiness would bring me peace, but I’m coming to realize that as it grows, I don’t become more numb; instead I hang onto any scrap of feeling I can recall, with all the fervor I can muster.

What will happen when I can love you no longer? What will happen when you disappear?

I don’t want to know.

I've created yet another Naruto universe in my head. I sketched out this stoic Sasuke with it in mind, and I want to talk about it.

In this world, Naruto gets close to Sasuke but is ultimately unable to find the courage to be in a real relationship with him. Naruto gets cold feet and begins trying to distance himself from Sasuke, and without saying a word to him, starts dating Hinata; Sasuke, his heart broken, disappears from Konoha for 12 years because he just can't bear to see Naruto. Believing he can love no one other than Naruto as a soulmate, Sasuke sadly resolves himself to a love-empty life. He learns to hide and endure his feelings, only then returning to Konoha. His eyes still light up when he's with Naruto, but now his expression is only sober, and he never smiles.

~whispers~ And some years later is where my newly-acquired grown-up!Bolt and Sasuke shipping comes in. :0 (BoruSasu? Really? What have I gotten myself into?! @_@) You'll probs hear more about that later. I've got a whole story in my head, and might do some drawings... It's actually really tender and sweet, I swear! >///<

Sasuke's meant to look older in this picture than he appears in Naruto Gaiden, maybe a little over 40 years old.
