Description Despite the noise level and the desaturation of color in this shot, it's one of my favorites that I've taken.
My friend and neighbor called me on my cell as he was on his way to pick up his brother from work to let me know that there were these really crazy cloud formations outside. So of course I snatched my camera and tripod and jumped out to the driveway.
360 degrees around me was this cast just on the horizon of strange clouds that kind of resembled a jaggy mountain wall. I couldn't duplicate that image on film because of course, photographs aren't cylindrical, so you couldn't get the same impression, but this shot shows one unique cloud that was hanging off beyond the corner edge of my front yard.
It looks alot like a huge ocean wave in my opinion.

It reminds me of the "36 Views of Mount Fuji". To be exactly, Hokusai's "The Great Wave off Kanagawa".

it is an odd street name indeed! I didn't edit that though. It was the street that connected with the one i used to live on. interesting coincidence, eh?

Beautiful picture!

Actually that kind of cloud isn't appearing often (meh, am I telling you the obvious?), especially not that HUUUUGE. They usually occur higher in the atmosphere. There's no name for such clouds, but there's a name for the instability provoking such shape, the Kelvin-Helmholtz instability ([link] ).

In your case you only caught one wave.

Despite the stormy kind of sky, they are not usually associated with storms or rain or what-so-ever.

that's an amazing shot..not just for the cloud but for the environment in itself.. Cuz of that sign on the street saying "Lost horizon".It seems to me that this "wave cloud" is going to break itself in a very lost horizon.
that's a shot 4life
