GGGGGGGGUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!....... What have I done?...
I've done it again, that's what... *shot dead*
So I couldn't help but have this idea go through my head... I've seen a couple of pics already where it's more like switched roles with Lucille being the bug and Francoeur being the human, but I just wanted to go full out gender bent universe. :I pffff
And it could quite possibly work... (man, I always have waaay too much fun thinking of these things...
) The only GB names I actually thought of that work are Lucian and Emilia... pff Easy. But it's the other ones I'm not really sure what to name...
haha It's a lot harder when they're originally French names and you don't want to screw up the original name's meaning and have it make sense... :/I actually feel a bit disturbed from that drawing that bare Female-Fracoeur...
pfff Everyone just kind of looks like everyone is cross-dressing... XD pfff She makes kind of an awkward woman, but then at the same time she's still adorable... C:> Lucian looks like a pretty boy b/c of the hair, but I put that little pic in the middle to show he's really a man. :I pff So weird.
Female-Raoul would probably be like... the best thing ever... :I I would love her like crazy, like I love normal Roaul... XD hahaha She's probably super crazy and eccentric and totally just... I dunno!

Emilia... Adorable, no matter what... now she's just a doll... :I pfff (oh, and the dude on the side with glasses is Maud, the love interest of Emile/Emilia... I guess the name would stay the same... I dunno... It's really sad that that's the first pic I did of her and she's a man... :I wtf?...)
Oh, and the Prefect... 8| I don't really know what to say about that... he looks like a cross dresser... or Ursala from the Little Mermaid... rofl
Oh, and I originally had Femme-Francoeur in the bottom right corner as a bug, but I figured I wouldn't really be drawing this abominable stuff again and just drew her human...
haha Besides it seemed to fit, I guess... more like a happy ending sort of things... :I If they ever get to have that... get married... and get a house of their own... ;-; *sigh* I should be dead for this. lol

So I just watched this movie after stumbling upon your gallery (THANK YOU by the way it was so good omg) and I have to stop and say: Emilia is so. freaking. cute. I can't handle it. D: THIS IS SO PERFECT

And last but not least...
Francine, giant female flea who moonlights as a mysteriously masked suffragate guitar player and as Lucian's "long lost big sister". (I thought of Francine as big sister because it alludes to how "Grande Soeur" rhymes with "Francoeur".) Her namesake means "free one", because Lucian was inspired by a suffragette picket sign he found discarded in the alley. For some reason, she's like the UMAP equivalent of Eliza Doolittle from "My Fair Lady"!
When Lucian first found Francine's huddled figure outside his door, he thought she was a just a poor flower girl he injured and promised her shelter from the rain. ("I'm a man of my word, if you need a place to stay, I can offer you a night in the guest room.") When he offered to help her up, well... Imagine his surprise when an insectoid limb took his hand and elevated itself to a full hieght of 7 ft.
Lucian: *faints, regains conciousness moments later* "EEAAAAGH! No! Don't touch me, don't eat me! *scrambles like mad inside and curls up* It's bad dream..It's ALL a bad dream! My parents never died, the Seine is not flooded, and there is no monster outside my door. Wake up! Just wake up! S'il vous plait, Lucian, Wake up!"

Monsieur Giry, Lucian's uncle who is well-meaning but nonetheless urges his nephew to marry Madame Maynott in order to elevate thier status. Starts dating inspector Patty later on.
Lucian, sucessful singer at the rare bird who is considered 2nd most renowned Parisian celebrity. While he is prone to act like a diva, his bravery and kindness outwieghs his flaws. He makes it a personal philosophy to be "A Man of my Word": when he makes a promise, he honors it. EX. "If you come to the Rare Bird wearing the broach of the Suffragettes, you get the best seat in the house with all the Chateaux you can drink."
Speaking of which, his love-hate relationship with Roulette rather borders on him flirting playfully whilst the latter mistakenly thinks he's just being sarcastic. Even when he tries to be a gentleman ("Pretty lady like you should not be straining herself carrying a box of champagne."), Roulette (sharing Raoul's intellect) mistakes it as a feminist remark. Thier "rivalry" is fueled by thier differing views on equel rights.
(By the way, it would be cute to see a GB version of thier past with a slight twist: Young Roulette was walking in the park when Young Lucian's car ran into her ankle. Love at 1st sight and what-not. Young Roulette ran off with his toy, in hopes that he'd pursue her. But when she peeked from behind the tree, he had seemingly vanished into thin air. Heart-broken, the little girl Roulette broke down into tears, clutching her little keep-sake.)

Madame Mayella Maynot, a revered veteran suffragette who is gradually corrupted by her ambition and pride, to the point that she ultimately loses her title. She wants nothing less than to become "Madame Mayor", and to wed Lucian. (While she may seem merely elegant and haughty, deep down, she's as dangerous as Agatha Trunchbull).
Alberta, the obnoxious Carlotta-esque waitress at the Rare Bird, plays tambourine (badly), sings even worse, and looks the way she sounds (like her voice actor were Jennifer Hale). Her favorite song: "To cooking, I say no! To sweeping floors, I say bye bye! To the voting booth I shall go! To shopping sprees, I say that's fine!"
Inspector Patty, daughter of the previous inspector, who not only wishes to fill her father's shoes or meet up to Madame Maynott's expectations, but prove the suffragette motto "Woman can do anything a man can". But after what Madame Maynott puts her through, to quote Patty "It took a FLEA to open my eyes!"

Emily and Roulette, two would-be suffragettes, the former secretly works in the projection room, the other runs a delivery bussiness and ain't afraid to show the world she's a woman doing a guy's job. (Roulette's pet peeve is being reminded of two things: (A) she's not REALLY a suffragette because she never had the 'privelage' of going to prison and (B) her "mink" coat is really hay.)
Todd, Emily's deep crush whom she is afraid wouldn't like her for wanting equal rights as much as the next suffragette. (Secretly, he doesn't mind that she's a suffragette and in fact is enamored by Emily's hidden bravery).
Charlotte, "ASSISTANT BOTANIST AND FLORIST", a squirrel monkey dressed in a skirt and sash and works for female scientist Madame Curie (no relation to the real one).

You know, this is making me realize how contrasted the male characters can be in the same movie without ruining the general style, while there tends to be a lot less variety for the female characters' appearance. I mean, they'll have a couple of more distinctive features of course, mainly details like the hair color, the eyes and other slightly different things, but they usually all have about the same shape (small waist, delicate round face, big eyes, etc.) unless one of them is really meant to be either an ugly, evil, comical or forgettable character. I'm ou just rarely see an important girl character that has a more "caricatured" look like your female versions of Raoul or Emile (or Francoeur
