in last 10 years, each day, a lot of soldiers have been crying in Afghanistan just like this.

they are right to cry. because they are not there for democracy or freedom or any other good thing.

dozen thousands man "just like him" wasted there to protect their drug bosses' capital.

and everyday this wastage increasing multiplying. and the existance of those man make no profit of any countries' fredom or democracy.

and all of you still continue to sing same song "freedom and democracy" ?????

Aww, this really sweet. It so cute to see this full grown man in the military writing on the wall about how much he loves his mommy like a little boy. I don't know if he's really in the military or not, I don't think that's important, he might just be modeling for the photo. The whole point of this piece is to be symbolic and to express a meaning and emotion, just like most art.

This picture; whether the man is in the military or not, is a good representative of how most of our soldiers feel. They miss their homes, and they miss their families. I think, we should all stop the bickering and just look at the symbolism of this picture.

I just thought that I would point out that the last few comments on this user's page are about him going into Iraq, seeing as how he hasn't been active for 50+ weeks I have this sinking feeling that he died in service. I just want everyone who's posting negatively on here to know that. I hope you feel ashamed of the way you act here. And if you don't I really hope that the universe comes and teaches you just how painful hate can be. No matter what form it comes in. You're terrible people.

It doesn't matter if you're patriotic or not.

You should be so ashamed of yourselves.

Don't listen to this dickweed.  The guy who posted the photo is a poser and DEFINITELY not in the military.  Anyone who has been in the military knows he's definitely NOT wearing anything that is "up to date" with US Military dress code.  Those camoflauge have been out of date since 2001.  So if he took this...it would of have to of been LONG before the Iraq war started.  Which means, it is fake as shit.  The guy just posted something fake in an attempt to draw attention out of people that doesn't belong to him, but to real military of the world that deserve the attention because they ACTUALLY DID experience the hardships of war.  He probably just went inactive like 100,000 of accounts do a day.  Or he died from things definitely NOT war related.  Fuck, he probably got hit by a bus from karma catching up.

erenik In reply to DistantWanderer [2013-08-08 05:04:51 +0000 UTC]

The picture is symbolic and applies to any soldiers, which invokes the feelings of tragedy, not necessarily this person per se. Sounds like you've experienced it more or less personally, but I'd advice you not to use such language just because others are of a different view than you.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DistantWanderer In reply to erenik [2013-08-08 05:28:31 +0000 UTC]

I could care less what your advice is and frankly I'll use whatever language I choose.   You have your opinion, which is a right no one can take away, but it doesn't mean I have to listen to it or care either way.

As for it being symbolic, the photographer blatantly implies he was taking the picture in a war zone...which he obviously wasn't.  And by doing so, he is trying to get attention from people that he doesn't deserve.  The attention belongs to the EU, UN, and US forces that actually WENT to war and to deal with this problem.  It would of been less disrespectful if the artist had said in the description: "This is a tribute to all the military that have dealt with the hardship" instead of implying he was there.  Which he obviously wasn't.

erenik In reply to DistantWanderer [2013-08-08 11:41:56 +0000 UTC]

But you seem to be heeding it somewhat now anyway...

I'm not one to argue that he really was there, but I find your ideas of him trying to steal attention intriguing and slightly ridiculous. I mean, wouldn't he have more deviations and be more online if that were the case?

Do note that it was submitted in 2006, he has a total of 4 deviations and hasn't been online for 50 weeks.

It catching a Daily Deviation is pure luck if anything (or seems so at least).

God, the next time you decide to undermine me how about you say it to my comments instead of trying to change someone else's opinion when they obviously believe what all of the other hundreds of people think about this. You're so rude it is uncanny. I do believe that your parents raised you quite wrong.

You should respect other peoples opinions, not call them "dickweed"s just because you don't agree with them.

However, after browsing your favorites I can understand why you do not appreciate this. Someone who is only interested in disgusting depictions of the female anatomy in a overly indulged anime-esque style obviously has no real appreciation for art at all. I'm pretty sure you wouldn't know real art if it bit you in your butt.

Well, I've tried to save from patronizing you until now, but it seems you have chosen to do so to me, so I suppose it is only fair.

This is taken from a 19 year old girl who couldn't possibly know much of anything about life.  The hilarious thing is, you believe you do, with all your might, until you are older and realize just how stupid you were.  When I was your age I had already been fighting for my life for two years and fighting to save the lives of the people around me.  So, enjoy your outlandish opinion about how you think you know the world, as I will do the same for mine.  Why should you enjoy it?  Because people like me and other military members around the world risked their lives and some even gave them, to protect it so you could.

I find this feeble excuse for attention by the photo poster to be disrespectful for all military members that have gone through the struggle.  You: you think anything you say is right.  Which is fine.  At your age, everyone does, so be as head strong as you like.

Oh man that is so rich. I didn't patronize you, jerk.

I patronized your taste

Like you even know a single thing about me. You're a down right riot, you know that? You should do stand up.

I'm glad you did your time in the army, I salute you. I think what you did is great. However, while I support the army and all that grand hoopla, it's really not my place to say anything about it. Other than I think that this person has every right to express their opinion. And if it offends you, that's not really my problem.

Oh man, oh dude. You are so hilarious. I love people like you. You're calling me head strong, but I'm not the one calling some one out on how I think they act.

Evidently you aren't aware of the meaning of the word, so I have added it for your enjoyment.  See?  That is what a patronizing statement is.  "You wouldn't know art if it bit you on the butt."

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MommaMercer In reply to DistantWanderer [2013-08-08 05:58:30 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, see. that's still just your taste. Not you as a person.

I've said nothing about how you as a person are. Except that you don't understand art.

You're not very good with context though, it seems.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DistantWanderer In reply to MommaMercer [2013-08-08 06:08:56 +0000 UTC]

Isn't art all about how an individual interprets it?  Not how it is meant to be interpreted?  Therefore, I understand this art EXACTLY how art is meant to be understood: individually.  The fact that I don't see art the same way you do doesn't constitute you a right or reason to cry a river about as that would only contradict the real reason for art...which you seem to be so savvy about.  But, like I said, if you want to cry and throw fits because the world doesn't respect your opinion or won't change their views of the world to match yours, go right on ahead, many have died to give you the right.  Just don't be surprised if people blame the flatulence you call reasoning on your age.  Blame your peers for that.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MommaMercer In reply to DistantWanderer [2013-08-08 06:17:22 +0000 UTC]

That entire retort made no sense. When have I ever cried about something? When did I throw a fit? When did I try to change someone's opinion? What are you even blabbering on about. I do however, like how you try and surmise all of this to my age.

God you are such a clone.

There are so many people exactly like you that it is sad.

The other person who spoke about you was right. You don't even deserve the attention of a rock.

Yeah man, good luck with your endeavors and what not. I'm not going to beat this dead horse with you anymore. You're just giving me a headache.
