This is an older piece from about 2 years ago, but still one that I particularly like and thought I'd share,and I'm more than well aware of the horrible looking birds and stiff looking wings (so much for flowy movement lol) but it's too late to go back now and being my first deviation, I really wanted to post something
Tools: Staedtler pigment liners, white gel pen & Prismacolor pencils on A4 size paper
Time: around 25+ hours..each feather took me like 15 minutes to color

The background is really nice! You're technique is great, but i think you need to work more on anatomy. Her chin and her wing are the only things that bugged me. Here are some tutorials for wings:

Even though the wing is bounded, it will still have to follow the natural anatomy. your feather details is amazing, but need to make it less flatten.

Since the feathers are such an integral part of the piece they could really benefit from more time spent on them. I'm sure you've heard it before since you've stated so in your description. Still I'll mention that it appears so flat because the form of the feathers isn't really defined too well. There isn't any strong shadows to really give it depth between the layers. Also the beads which wrap around the wing doesn't cast any type of shadow onto the feathers which creates an even flatter look to it. The hair on the woman is done pretty well though her proportions seem to be a bit astranged. Such as the neck being a bit too long and the chin off center. Not too bad though I'm sure you've improved since then.

I really love all the detail you've put into the hair and the wings in this piece. The addition of the beads that are wrapping around the wings was a great idea; very creative!

I like the colours. Especially the blue sky and cloudy background. The feathers look nice, with the green beads wrapped around it. I like the details in the feathers.

Oo, an angelic character? I really love angels, as I have them in my comic too! I think it still has a nice quality despite being old.
