Description This image relates to my own Stargate fanfiction universe known as Stargate: The Fifth Race and is to be considered non-canon in regards to the main Stargate universe. My series is set in 2014 and this and other images establishes what happened in the interum between and after SG-1, Atlantis, and Universe. The series does not consider Stargate Origins as canon.

The image was acquired via Star Wars: Empire at War with the Stargate - Empire at War: Pegasus Chronicles mod installed.

The Borealis Class cruiser was one of the Lanteans' main warships used during their war with the Wraith circa 8100 BC to 8000 BC. The Lanteans unfortunately lost the vast majority of their Borealis Cruisers during the war. The Asurans, the Lanteans' Replicator creations, would also utilize the Borealis Cruisers in their vastly more successful war against the Wraith. There is little known about the Borealis Cruisers though as they were scarsely encountered by the Atlantis Expedition. Only a handful of cruisers have ever been encountered and only one ever examined remotely. It is assumed that they were all destroyed at the climax of the Battle of Asuras.

What can be surmised is that they are smaller, faster, and less armed version of the larger Aurora Class Battleships. As with the Auroras, the Borealis class's true class name is unknown. The Borealis Class name was chosen, initially, as a joke by ranking Atlantis Expedition Military Commander, Lt. Col. John Sheppard (spoofing the Aurora Borealis) in 2008 while giving a lengthy debriefing after the Battle of the Super-hive. The name managed to stick.

Did they actually give these cruisers that name in the show? I don’t recall them ever referred to as the Borealis...

The name was my idea. It’s supposed to be apocryphal and non canon in the main series. I should probably make a note of that here
