Description OMG ONE DONE!!!11one

My Background assignments always take too much of my time.

The point here was to draw a child's bedroom, with a toy castle in the middle of it, seen from an adult's point of view. I really don't know why I went all medieval-ish because it wasn't part of the rules at all. Most people just chose to draw regular bedrooms. Unlike most other people, my room actually looks small...

I SO screwed up the fireplace. It may not be obvious at first view, but I know. You'll see once I upload part two.

Still, I like it.

The second part of the assignment is coming soon, it's due Tuesday, anyway. Back to work!

[EDIT]

Done.

PART 1 OUT OF 2. PLEASE HAVE A LOOK AT THE SECOND ONE [link] 'cause they look better together.

Oh my goodness... that is amazing! I want a room like that!!! You did a fantastic job with the linework. Even with all the detail, nothing gets lost or slurred together. Great job!

I just can't get over the fact that yoo have bacgrounds as a school subject! O.O

Yea, both part one and two look absolutley terriffic! Especially part two where yoo have a really wierd, low perspective! Expertly done wierd, low perspective .

And I really like the fact that the room looks small, it really is very hard to get that kind of effect.

Great worky-work and I hope yoo get the top grade!!!

Waaah, I just loooooove your background pictures (perhaps because I'm not that good at drawing backgrounds^^).
Oh and I wish I had a lighting table (I don't know if it's called like this in English, but it's called like this in German^^). I bet this method is much easier and... cleaner than the method I use now (very complicated method: You draw the sketch, shade the back of the sketch sheet with a smooth (?) pencil, lay this sheet on a blank sheet of paper and then you draw over the sketched lines (the ones you want to have in your final drawing, not the helping lines or vanishing points, etc) using a lot of pressure).

Oh yeah, I wish I had had such a room when I was a child^^;

Oo, I like the design of that room-certainly out of the ordinary, but still looks to be believable.

How do you manage to get your lines so clean? Is that ink, or are you just skilled and practiced?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

boum In reply to rabbit-of-earth [2003-11-16 17:11:25 +0000 UTC]

Actually it's not ink, it's blue col-erase pencils (Think "erasable colouring pencils" I first draw the whole thing on a 11x17 sheet, with my vanishing points and construction and all that necessary junk. Then I retrace it using my... lighting table, whatever it is called in English. You know. Translucid tables with lights underneath.

That's why it's so clean.

But it wasn't like that at first. I got to practice often, too. Thanks!
