Things change.

Encouraged by the very positive feedback to "The Planet" I decided to create another planet, but in totally different mood - dark, lifeless and depressing. Contrary to what you may expect, this is not the ugly face of my city - we don't have such amount of heavy industry - but some influences exist.

What you can find here: mine, the giant mining machine, sewer processing plant, silos, power plant, sawmill, train cargo station, water tower, chemical plant, some dead vegetation, some cars & people and whola lotta of power lines. Mum said it looks cool

Few words about the title. It symbolizes a place where the wild industrial growth (Eldorado) is the cause of the severe air pollution (smoldering).

It took me half of a year to finish this. I started from the sphere, then I created the buildings and finally painted the ground in Mudbox. Postprocessing was done in PS, including smoke trails, grunge and vignette. Rendertime: 1h30 on OC'd i7. All the textures are from cgtextures, and two car models from turbosquid.

Dedicated to... well, actually noone.
