This was alot of fun. I found a great tut on doing halftones by which you can find here-->[link]So what would Heavy do if he'd crossed paths with the caped crusader? I mean, Heavy's busy enough cracking heads as well as cases, would he bother with a guy with a fetish for leathery capes? Probably not.
And good 'ol Heavy would fight dirty. He's throw Bats off guard by putting his cigarette out in his eye. They're not just good for lung cancer!!
Then an old one/two, roundhouse, and Bats is kissing pavement.
Well, a guy can dare to dream.

i forgot to comment on this, and i love it. probably my favorite of the things you have done. like everyone said tones are great, great positioning! I like the hunching of batman, done very well. It is truely impressive when you have such clear control of body language. that said, he just broke all the rules of the universe saying that to batman >:[]. To be honest, i had no interest in this heavy character before, but you really show his personality here and I want to see more.

I dig it, I really do. But I'm sure you would love to hear any sort of critique as well. My only nit-pick would be that Bat's position is a little...scrunched (is that a word?). He just looks like he is hunching his head into his shoulders. Anyway, that's my two cents. Keep up the stellar half tone work.

Had a comic book discussion earlier... "which hero was the most 'badass'." Long story short, a friend of mine answers every question with "Batman."

Toning is so underappreciated in western comics these days, and it's a shame cuz I think this piece looks excellent.

I've always been a fan of Zip-a-Tones, and Benday. The original Turtles comics were full of that stuff. I just thought it added a depth to it that ya can't achieve with just line.
I'm toying with maybe doing Heavy with this kind of technique. I think it fits him.
The trick will be in knowing when NOT to use it.

Thanks, man. Yeah, I really wanted to show that Heavy is taller than Bats, but thought that a straight on shot would be boring. So, even though it's a bit distorted, it works pretty well from a storytelling standpoint.
I love the halftones, although, I still need some practice. That guys gallery friggin rocks with that stuff. Very cool.
