They have greatly increased lifespans compared to modern humans as well as increased mental and physical capabilities so it takes longer for them to fully develop (because there is more too develop, obviously). Of course this would seem unimaginable for us humans as we currently are but is it not unlike how our own adolescence greatly outstrips that of other animals? To them they would see our own adolescence as 'much too short'.
Besides, what's with people wanting to get through adolescence as quickly as possible. It was honestly the best time of my life.
